1.International Literacy Day(ILD), celebrated annually on 8 September, is an opportunity for Governments, civil society and stakeholders to highlight improvements in world literacy rates, and reflect on the world's remaining literacy challenges.ILD 2019 will focus on ‘Literacy and Multilingualism'.

2.Ferrari's 21-yr old Charles Leclerc won a nail-biting, incident-filled Italian Grand Prix. Leclerc's victory was his 2nd in a row, following his maiden win in Belgium, & Ferrari's 1st at their home race since Fernando Alonso triumphed in 2010.

3.High Commissioner of India to Canada Vikas Swarup inaugurated India Pavilion at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival 2019, which will provide a platform to showcase Indian Cinema in the overseas market facilitating new business opportunities.50th International Film Festival, India 2019 to be held in Goa.

4.Committee of Administrators (CoA) of BCCI, chaired by Vinod Rai has appointed a 3-member Independent Supervisory Committee chaired by Alok Kumar to run the cricketing affairs of Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) and also conduct fresh elections.BCCI Ombudsman: Justice D K Jain (retd).

6.President of India has appointed Justice Vikram Nath as Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court upon Collegium’s recommendation, which had previously recommended Justice Nath as Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.Chief Justice of India: Ranjan Gogoi.

7.EHL has proposed to capitalise free reserves of Equitas Small Finance Bank issuing shares of the subsidiary to its shareholders without cash consideration. 8.Bank of Baroda has planned to raise capital up to Rs 3,000 crore through tier-II bonds for meeting capital adequacy norms for the merged entity (Vijaya & Dena Bank with BoB). India Ratings has assigned “AAA” stable rating to proposed bond offering by BoB.BOB’s merged with Dena & Vijaya Bank, w.e.f 1 April 2019.

9.India registered improvement in overall life expectancy at birth to 69 years, with women expected to live for 70.4 years & men for 67.8 years, as per Sample Registration Survey (SRS) for 2013-17.

10.US-based Duracell Inc. is set to buy Eveready Industries’ battery and flashlight business in a slump sale for Rs 1,600-1,700 crore. The all-cash deal includes the manufacturing plants, distribution network and the Eveready brand.Duracell, owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway
