2.Chilka lake bird sanctuary is very popular among tourists,located near puri in Orissa. The chilka lake is the most beautiful brackish water lake in Asia and famous for a rich variety of birds.


3.The Salim Ali bird sanctuary is home to many varieties of local and migratory birds, situated in chorao Island along the river Mandovi in Goa. Salim Ali Bird sanctuary is one of the best known bird sanctuaries and very famous bird sanctuary in India.

7.The Mayani bird sanctuary is globally reckoned for its gigantic range of species for migratory birds situated in Satara district of Maharashtra.

8.Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park is situated in Rajasthan. Bharatpur bird sanctuary is one of the best bird sanctuaries in India and one of the finest bird parks in the world.

1.Dudhawa Dam is located in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh in India. The construction of the dam began in 1953 and finished in 1964. It is built across the Mahanadi river in the village of Dudhawa.

2.Jayakwadi Dam : The foundation of the dam was laid by the then Prime minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri on 18 October 1965. The dam was inaugurated on 24 February 1976 by the then Prime minister Indira Gandhi.The harsh project is one of the largest irrigation projects in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a multipurpose project. The water is mainly used to irrigate agricultural land in the drought-prone Marathwada region of the state. It also provides water for drinking and industrial usage to nearby towns and villages and to the municipalities and industrial areas of Aurangabad and Jalna district. It is located on Godavari river at the site of Jayakwadi village in Paithan taluka of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra State state of India.

3. The Sardar Sarovar Dam is a gravity dam on the Narmada river near NavagamGujarat in India. Four Indian states, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra and Rajasthan, receive water and electricity supplied from the dam.Fifty-six years ( on April 5, 1961 ) after the foundation stone for the Sardar Sarovar Dam was laid by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on in Narmada district’s Kevadia, the dam, one of India’s biggest, will be finally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2017.Narmada.

4. Tuirial dam is an earthfill and gravity dam near Kolasib in the state of Mizoram in India. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectricpower production. The Hydel Project was Inaugurated by Narendra Modi  on 16th December 2017.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally dedicate the 60-MW Tuirial Hydro Electric Power Project near Kolasib in Mizoram to the nation from Aizawl .

5.Pavananagar is a village near Pavana Dam. It is about 45 km via Paud and 65 km via Kamshet from Pune. There are roads to Pavananagar from Pune & LonavlaLonavla to Pavana Dam is 20 km; 40 minutes journey from lonavla.Pavana Dam is constructed across the Pavana River.

6.Mulshi is the name of a major dam on the Mula river in India.It is located in the Mulshi taluka administrative division of the Pune district of Maharashtra State.Water from the dam is used for irrigation as well as for producing electricity at the Bhira hydroelectric power plant, operated by Tata Power.

7.The Almatti Dam is a hydroelectric project on the Krishna River in North Karnataka, India which was completed in July 2005.

8.Supa Dam is built across Kalinadi (Kannada) or Kali river in state of Karnataka in India. The dam is situated in Joida taluk of Uttara Kannada district. The construction started in 1974 and ended in 1987.

9.Kadra Dam is situated in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state in India. The dam is constructed across river Kalinadi. The dam was primarily built as hydroelectric project for supply of water to turbines of electric power generating station.

10.Vani Vilasa Sagara, popularly known as Mari Kanive  is a dam near Hiriyur TalukChitradurga District, in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the oldest dam in the state.The dam was built by the Mysore Maharajas pre-independence across the river Vedavathi.

1.China on Thursday opened its first highway with built-in wireless charging systems for electric vehicles in the country's Shandong province. The one-kilometre-long road contains over 10,000 photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight into electricity. China has become the world's second country to construct a photovoltaic highway after France which introduced a road fitted with solar panels in 2016.

2.In another significant step to combat climate change, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has approved a regional project on ‘Climate Resilience Building among Farmers through Crop Residue Management’ under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC). The project was approved at the meeting of the National Steering Committee on Climate Change, under the chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri C.K Mishra. The first phase of the project has been approved at a cost of approximately Rs. 100 Crore for the States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The project will leverage approximately three times the approved amount with contribution from the States as well as farmers.

3.The Indonesian island of Bali has been a byword for tropical paradise, with tourists flocking from across the world to its perfect beaches.But now the island has declared a "garbage emergency" after its most popular tourist beaches were inundated with a rising tide of plastic waste.

4.The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has tightened the norms for credit rating agencies (CRAs) and mutual funds (MFs) to reduce instances of conflict of interest. It also allowed complete integration of stock and commodity exchanges to enable both asset classes to be available for trading on a single platform.

Net worth norms :The SEBI board, which met on Thursday, increased the net worth requirement for rating agencies to ₹25 crore from the current ₹5 crore. It also decided that the promoter entity would have to maintain at least 25% stake in the rating agency for a period of three years.

5.Tata Sky, India’s leading content distribution platform, tied up with Ola Sunburn Festival 2017 ( PUNE ), one of the largest music festivals in the world, to bring its eclectic mix of music, entertainment, experiences, celebration and lifestyle straight to the small screens. Apart from live streaming Ola Sunburn Festival 2017,Tata Sky Mobile App will showcase nearly 500 hours of music fest content from over the years too, which will be open to all users, including non-subscribers.

6. The Uttarakhand forest department focusing on tiger conservation, the State is soon to get two new tiger reserves, work towards which is under way. The Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary, which falls under the Terai Arc Landscape spanning across India and Nepal, and the Surai Range in the Terai East division of the Uttarakhand forest department are the two proposed tiger reserves.

7.India will begin its four-yearly tiger census in January 2018 next year amid expectations that new data, set to be released in January 2019, would show a rise in big cat population.
The last all-India census occurred in 2014, when tiger numbers stood at 2,226 , up from 1,706 in 2010.With state surveys reporting notable increases, some estimate that the tiger population will cross 3,000 during the 2018 count.Top officials at the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) confirmed that the tiger census will happen in 2018 and the final numbers will be ready by January 2019.
8.India has the highest level of non-performing assets (NPA) among BRICS countries and is ranked fifth on a list of countries with the highest levels of NPAs, as per the report by CARE Ratings. The only countries ranked higher than India on the list are Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Ireland. All these countries, along with Spain, are commonly referred to as PIIGS, and have been victims of sovereign debt crises in recent years.  At 9.85 percent, India’s NPA ratio is over 400 basis points higher. Spain is the only PIIGS country ranked lower than India on the list, with an NPA ratio of 5.28 percent.
9.Bank of Baroda entered into MoU with POORTI Agri Services Pvt. Ltd to enable the farmers to purchase agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, seeds etc. provided by POORTI. This is a Platform for Online Ordering & Rural Transformation of India known as “POORTI”. Poorti is a well-established company providing multi-party mobile commerce platform for easy ordering of fertilizers, pesticides, seeds by farmers with loans given by banks.
10.An agreement for IBRD Credit of USD 40 Million from World Bank for “U.P. Pro-Poor Tourism Development Project” was signed between India and the World Bank. The programme size is approximately USD 57.14 million, of which USD 40 million will be financed by the Bank, and the remaining amount will be funded out of State Budget. The programme duration is 5 years. The Project Objective is to increase tourism-related benefits for local communities in targeted destinations. The major districts under attractions in Uttar Pradesh are Agra, Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana and Govardhan in the Braj region.

1.Darjeeling will host a five-day Teesta Rangit Tourism Festival 2017. The four-month strike has severely affected tourism, one of the biggest sources of income in the Darjeeling hills.The festival will be held in phases in different hill towns across the two districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. It will be held from December 27 to 29 in Darjeeling; December 28 and 29 in Kurseong; December 29 and 30 in Kalimpong; and December 30 and 31 in Mirik.

2.The conservative kingdom of Saudi Arabia, long criticized for its constraints on women, will get its first woman ambassador in Riyadh with the appointment of a female envoy from Belgium, according to reports in the Belgian media.Belgium will send Dominique Mineur, currently the ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, to Riyadh next summer according to local news reports, making her the first woman ambassador in the kingdom.

1.Supreme Court of India approves the Center Scheme to setup fast track courts for trail of Politicians. Under this scheme, all the MPs and MLAs will be tried for the criminal cases against them. Accordingly, this move is to ensure that the cases of various law-makers end within one.

2.Jammu and Kashmir govt. has launched Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya Scheme) across the state. Subsequently, this scheme will provide free electricity connections to all the poor citizens of the state.The state govt. will provide these electricity connections at just Rs 500 which are to be paid in 10 installments in bill Central govt. has already launched this scheme in the country to provide electricity to around 4 crore rural households across the country till December 2018.

3.The finance ministry has asked public sector banks to look at rationalising their domestic and overseas branches as part of the reform process to strengthen their financials.The banks have been advised to pursue closure of loss-making domestic and international branches as part of a capital-saving exercise.There was no point in running loss-making branches and placing a burden on the balance sheet, so banks should look at not only big savings but also small savings like these for improving overall efficiency.

4.International Affairs Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will join India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for a two-day ASEAN-India Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in Singapore next month. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Assam, N Chandrababu Naidu and Sarbananda Sonowal, will also attend the function on 6-7 January 2018.  The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is celebrated every year to mark the contribution of overseas Indian community in the development of India.

5.The Union Minister of State (I/C) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh launched the electronic-Human Resource Management System (e-HRMS) in New Delhi. He launched it during the observance of Good Governance Day by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. The Minister launched the 25 applications of 5 modules of the system. The e-service book launched for DoPT during March 2017 will also be integrated into the e-HRMS.

6.The world’s longest glass bridge opened in China to the public. Though it has a capacity to hold 2000 people, only 500 would be allowed at a time. It is Located in Shijiazhuang, the magnificent bridge lies 218 meters above hanging between the two cliffs in Hongyagu Scenic Area in Pingshan county. The bridge is 488 meters long and two meters wide, with two dragon statues on top that could produce smoke.

7.The state govt. of Assam has launched the Tractor Distribution Scheme under the Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) for farmers. Subsequently, this scheme will revive agricultural sector and help in doubling the farmer’s income by 2022. Accordingly, CMSGUY scheme will provide one tractor in each revenue village at subsidized rates.

1. Good Governance Day is observed annually on December 25th, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.Objectives of Good Governance Day :To make people aware about the government commitment for providing a transparent and accountable administration in the country.
2.Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya  (25 December 1861 – 12 November 1946) was an Indian educationist and politician notable for his role in the Indian independence movement and as the two time president of Indian National Congress. He was respectfully addressed as Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and also addressed as 'Mahamana.
3.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided not to pursue a proposal for introduction of Islamic banking in the country. The central bank said the decision was taken after considering “the wider and equal opportunities” available to all citizens to access banking and financial services.Islamic or Sharia banking is a finance system based on the principles of not charging interest, which is prohibited under Islam. The issue of introduction of Islamic banking in India was examined by the RBI and the government of India.
4.Mumbai’s long-awaited AC trains are finally Ready. Starting December 25, Anyone can travel from Churchgate to Borivali, and later from Churchgate to Virar, in air-conditioned happiness. The service is being rolled out on a trial basis from Christmas Day, and will be fully operational from 1 January, 2018. Here are the details.
5.India is set to get its first runway on a 'sea-bridge'. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has given its approval to Lakshadweep's Agatti Airport for the same.The project is estimated to cost Rs. 1,500cr.
6.All-rounder Washington Sundar, who made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in the third and final Twenty20 International at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, became the youngest to represent India in the shortest format of the game.
7.To enhance standards of cleanliness on beaches, the environment ministry has launched a pilot project  'Blue Flag for its clean-up and development.With the prime objective of enhancing standards of cleanliness, upkeep and basic amenities at beaches, the ministry has launched a pilot project for beach clean-up and development, also striving for the 'Blue Flag' certification for such identified beaches.The 'Blue Flag' is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education(FEE) that a beach, marina or sustainable boating tourism operator, meets its stringent standards.
8.Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented the Dr A P J Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards 2017 to 56 children at Grambharti, near Gandhinagar.The children were honoured for their creativity and innovations. This year, students from 16 states were awarded.The competition is organised annually by the National Innovation Foundation.
9.The Bharatiya Janata Party named Jai Ram Thakur as legislature party leader in Himachal Pradesh, effectively making him the state’s next chief minister.The BJP’s central observer Narendra Singh Tomar announced Thakur’s name after a meeting with BJP MLAs.
10.A book containing selected writings by late journalist Gauri Lankesh was launched at the Mumbai Press Club Friday, three months after she was gunned down outside her home in Bengaluru by unidentified men. The book, The Way I See It — a Gauri Lankesh Reader, has been edited by writer and sociologist Chandan Gowda.

1.The Uttar Pradesh Assembly today passed a bill to award death penalty and life imprisonment to those dealing in spurious liquor if its consumption leads to any death.It also provides for rigourous imprisonment up to 10 years and not less than six years in case of disability caused by consumption of spurious liquor and fine to the tune of Rs five lakh and not less than Rs three lakh.

2.The government of Andhra Pradesh entered into an agreement with the moonshot factory of Alphabet (earlier Google) X to bring the breakthrough Free Space Optical. Communication (FSOC) technology in order to provide internet through the government Fibergrid project. This association with X labs to implement FSOC in AP is first of its kind in the world to provide wireless internet connection at a higher speed of up to 20Gbps and to a distance of up to 20kms.


3.Joda East Iron Mine (JEIM) of Tata Steel has been honoured with the prestigious Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award for the year 2017 for driving innovation in mines.The coveted award, given in recognition of innovation management, was received by Debashis Jena, Chief Joda, Tata Steel at Institute of Directors India’s 2nd Global Convention held at Singapore recently.

1.The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) today launched ‘Ganga Gram’ – a project for sanitation based integrated development of all 4470 villages along the River Ganga,  at a multi-stakeholder sammelan held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today.  
The Ganga Gram Swachhta Sammelan was attended by more than 1400 delegates including 500 village sarpanches from all five Ganga States (Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal), State and District government officials, NMCG Members and Ganga Swachhta Manch volunteers.  

2.Kisan Diwas (National Farmers’ Day) is observed every year on 23 December to celebrate the birth anniversary of the fifth prime minister. He was the PM of India for a very short tenure starting from 28th of July 1979 until 14th January 1980.Chaudhary Charan belonged to the farmer’s family and thus he led an extremely simple life despite being the honorable Prime Minister of India.

3. The External Affairs Ministry has come up with an initiative called SAMEEP - 'Students and MEA Engagement Programme'. Under this MEA official will talk to students to help them better understand foreign policy. The main objective of SAMEEP is to take Indian foreign policy and its global engagements to students across the country. Under this programme, all the ministry officers - under-secretary and above - will be asked to go to their hometowns, particularly their alma maters.

4.This year’s (2017)  PETA’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrities was tougher than ever – and the winners are Rajkummar Rao and Alia Bhatt.Both have made plant-based foods more popular than ever.The award was given by Animal rights organisation PETA.

5.People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an American animal rights organization based in Norfolk, VirginiaUS and led by Ingrid Newkirk, its international president. A nonprofit corporation with nearly 400 employees, it claims that it has 6.5 million members and supporters, in addition to claiming that it is the largest animal rights group in the world. Its slogan is "Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment,orabuse in any other way."Focus : Animal Rights .

6.Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin arrived in New Delhi. He will co-chair the meeting of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC). The External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will host Mr. Rogozin and lead the Indian side. The meeting will enable the two sides to review the progress achieved by various working groups and sub-groups under the IRIGC-TEC.

7.The Ministry of AYUSH was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH systems of health care. Earlier it was known as the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H) which was created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003, with focused attention for development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

8.The Union Cabinet has approved auctioning of more than 680 FM channels in 236 cities, including those in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, from which it expects to raise Rs 1,100 crore, according to an official statement on Thursday.
