1.In Malaysia, the King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has appointed seasoned politician Muhyiddin Yassin, a former interior minister and president of the Bersatu party as the new Prime Minister.Currency: Malaysian ringgit; Capital: Kuala Lumpur.

2.WHO has raised its global risk assessment of novel coronavirus to its highest level at global level after the epidemic spread to sub-Saharan Africa causing financial markets to plunge. More than 20 vaccines are in development globally, reported by WHO.WHO Director General: Dr Tedros Adhanom.


3.LS Speaker Om Birla launched the ''Suposhit Maa Abhiyan'' with the aim to create a malnutrition-free India at the Bhamashah Mandi campus in Kota. In 1st phase of the campaign, 1,000 kits of 17 kg balanced diet each were provided to 1,000 pregnant women.Women and Child Development Minister: Smriti Irani.


4.Union Minister of State PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated ‘Pension Adalat’ & National Pension System Awareness and Grievance Redressal Programme in Jammu. Pension Adalats help in on-the-spot redressal of pensioners.Minister also launched Twitter Series on Family Pension.


5.SBI Cards & Payment Services has raised Rs 2,769 Crore from 74 anchor investors, ahead of its initial share sale. Anchor investors are institutional investors, who are offered shares in an initial public offering, ahead of its opening.Singapore govt is among one of the anchor investors.


6.PM Modi laid foundation stone for the Bundelkhand Expressway & launched Har Ghar Jal Scheme to provide piped water to the households in Bundelkhand region. He also launched 10,000 farmers Producer Organisations or FPOs all over the country.Centre to provide fund of Rs 15 lakh to each FPO.


7.Dutee Chand clinched gold in 100 meters dash while long distance runner Narendra Pratap Singh bagged gold in men's 5000 meters race, his 2nd title at Khelo India University Games in Bhubaneswar. 8.A sale of worth Rs 22 lakhs was recorded in an exhibition organised by Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) New Delhi state office under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).KVIC is a statutory body under KVIC Act of 1956.


9.On the occasion of National Science Day, Govt has announced 11 chairs in the name of eminent Indian women scientists in various fields to inspire, encourage, empower women and give due recognition to young women researchers.National Science Day theme: ‘Women in Science.


10.Mastercard announced that Ajay Banga, President & Chief Executive Officer, will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mastercard Inc on January 1, 2021 & elected Michael Miebach to become Chief Executive Officer.Mastercard HQ: New York, USA.


11.TN state’s Chief Sec., K Shanmugam, said that govt has planned 2 textile parks, in Tuticorin & Salem. One in Salem would be for technical textiles, which are textile material/products used for their technical performance rather than as personal clothing.Govt approved a Rs 1,480-cr National Technical Textiles Mission.


12.With a view to de-risking industries from water shortage, the Tamil Nadu government has decided to rehabilitate around 250 water bodies lying currently in disuse in the various land parcels owned by the state’s industry promotion body, SIPCOT.TN Governor: Banwarilal Purohit.


13.Rally driver Gaurav Gill took home a special award at the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India Awards. FMSCI is the only federation in Asia Pacific that organises 10 national championships in almost all verticals of 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers and karting.Gill is the 1st motorsport athlete to be awarded Arjuna Award.


14.HDFC Bank joined hands with airline IndiGo to launch a co-branded credit card, which will effectively work like a loyalty programme for the carrier. Labelled Ka-ching, the card will offer many benefits like complimentary air tickets, lounge access etc.Bank aims to sell 1 million Ka-ching cards over next 3 years.


15.Zero Discrimination Day celebrated on 1 March highlights how people can become informed about & promote inclusion, compassion, peace and a movement for change. It is helping to create a global movement of solidarity to end all forms of discrimination.UNAIDS observes the Zero Discrimination Day annually.


16.World Defence Day is observed on 1 March to raise awareness of public protection from natural & technogenic disasters and rescue service work. World Civil Defence Day was instituted by the International Civil Defence Organization General Assembly in 1990.ICDO was formed by French Surgeon-General George Saint Paul.


17.Reducing government employees' retirement age from 60 to 58, free education for all students up to Class 12 & a debt waiver for landless farmers were some of the major statements made by Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal in the 2020-21 budget.Badal presented a ₹1,54,805 crore budget in the state Assembly.


18.Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal was presented the prestigious Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee award 2020 for Politics at the 6th India Ideas Conclave in Gujarat. The award, instituted by India Foundation was presented by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.Award carries a citation, a trophy & a cheque worth Rs 1 lakh.

19.Maharashtra State government is set to become single-use plastic-free by 1 May 2020. The announcement was made by the Maharashtra environment minister Aaditya Thackeray. He said self-help groups (SHGs) will be given Rs 5 crore to procure cloth bags.Around 7% plastic is being used for building roads in the state.

20.Axis Bank has approved the appointment of Puneet Sharma as chief financial officer. He replaces Jairam Sridharan, who has resigned as Axis Bank CFO. Prior to joining Axis Bank, Sharma spent 12 years at Tata Capital Ltd.Amitabh Chaudhry, MD & CEO of Axis Bank.
