1.The RBI has cautioned people about a fake website in its name which is asking for personal and confidential banking details of bank customers. The layout of the fake website, www.indiareserveban.org, is similar to that of the original RBI website. Further, the RBI also cautioned the public about other fake websites such as www.rbi.org and www.rbi.in.
2.The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, in collaboration with the Environmental Sanitation Institute and Tata Trusts, has developed a Sanitation Park which was inaugurated in the Capital by Union Minister, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Sushri Uma Bharti, and Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Shri ParameswaranIyer.The Sanitation Park was developed at CGO Complex in New Delhi with an objective to create awareness on various safe technological options. The Park demonstrates various options pertaining to toilet technologies and solid and liquid waste management technologies, with a brief description of these technologies.
3.Tipaimukh Dam is a proposed embankment dam on the river Barak in Manipur state India, first commissioned in 1983. The purpose of the dam is flood control and hydroelectric power generation.
4.The government has directed the banks to only accept online applications for education loans in a bid to make the loan disbursement process transparent and efficient. The banks have also been asked to not consider any application received in physical form. The move also aims to tackle the delay in sanctioning of the education loans. Vidya Lakshmi is the IT-based Student Financial Aid Authority to administer and monitor scholarships as well as education loan schemes.
5.Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh, launched a Web based monitoring System and a Fly Ash mobile application named ASH TRACK. These platforms will enable better management of the ash produced by thermal power plants by providing an interface between fly ash producers (Thermal Power Plants) and potential ash users such as – road contractors, cement plants etc.
6.The Indian contingent won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the Asian Para-Cycling Championships held in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. Last year's silver medallist Divij Shah repeated his silver-winning performance while BSF soldier Harinder Singh won bronze adding to his bronze from the last year. New entrant Madhu Bagri become the first para cyclist to win an international medal in hand cycling.
7.Justice Abhilasha Kumari has been sworn-in as new Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla administered her the oath of office at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.Justice Abhilasha was a judge of the Gujarat High Court.
8.India has ranked 44 out of 50 nations in the global Intellectual Property (IP) index.The index is released by the US Chambers of Commerce.Last year, India ranked 43rd out of 45 countries in the index.The US tops the list followed by the United Kingdom and Sweden.Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the intellect for which a monopoly is assigned to designated owners by law.
9.Sohini Roy Chowdhury, eight-year-old Indian-origin schoolgirl has entered the UK’s Mathletics Hall of Fame, an online mathematics-based competitive tool aimed at primary school pupils. She made it into the top 100 World Hall of Fame after solving mathematical puzzles with speed and accuracy. New Delhi born Sohini joined the competition this year as a student of Nelson Primary School in Birmingham.
10.Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has launched a book on child health care titled 'Even When There Is A Doctor'.Penned down by Dr Yashwant Amdekar along with Dr Rajesh Chokhani and Krishnan Sivaramakrishnan, the book describes the role of an individual or parents in improving their child's health.
