1.19-yr old Canadian Bianca Andreescu upset Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5 in the U.S. Open final for her first Grand Slam title.This is 2nd year in a row that Williams has lost in the U.S. Open final. Andreescu is 1st woman to win the U.S. Open in US Open debut.

2.IAF to place orders worth around ₹45,000 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to acquire 83 Light Combat Aircraft Tejas fighters. LCAs have been designed an developed completely by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).LCA Mark 1A aircraft is likely to be produced by 2023.

3.Public sector insurance companies -- National Insurance, Oriental Insurance and United India Insurance ,are set to be infused with funds worth ₹12,000 crore to boost their capital base and meet regulatory norms.National Insurance has a solvency ratio of 1.5.

4.IAF announced the completion of the Level-1 selection of Indian astronauts for mission Gaganyaan, which country's first human mission to space, aimed to be launched by 2021, a 3-member crew will spend a minimum of seven days in the space.

5.Government achieved the target of giving 8 cr free cooking gas (LPG) connections to the poor 7 months ahead of schedule. PM Modi handed over the 8 croreth connection under PMUY at an event organised in Sendra, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.Ujjwala launched in 2016, with target of 5 cr connections.

6.President Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the National Youth Summit in New Delhi, organised by the Youth Awakening. Speaking on the occasion, President said that today's India is full of youth power having immense talent and energy.Ram Nath Kovind serves as the 14th President of India.

8.Currently a Member of the Rajya Sabha, Lawyer & former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani passed away at his residence in New Delhi at the age of 95. Born in Sindh, Pakistan in 1923, he had obtained a law degree when he was just 17.

9.RBI has taken strict action against Equitas Small Finance Bank (ESFB) for not getting its shares listed on time. As per the RBI order, Equitas Small Finance Bank can no longer open new branches, and RBI has also frozen the salary of the bank CEO.ESFB HQ: Chennai.

10.Jack Ma announced his decision to step down as chairman of Alibaba. Ma plans to put his vast fortune - among China's biggest at $41 billion - into initiatives serving his first love, education, following the footsteps of a fellow tech innovator he admires.Alibaba CEO Daniel Zhang.
