1.India's ranking improved from 40th to 34th, over 2017 on world travel and tourism competitiveness index by WEF. Spain held on to the top spot in the report which ranked 140 countries on their relative strengths in global tourism and travel.WEF HQ: Cologny, Switzerland; Founded: 1971.

2.ECL Finance Ltd of Edelweiss & State Bank of India have signed a co-origination agreement to increase access to credit for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It involves sharing of risks & rewards b/w Banks & NBFCs, MSMEs, creating a lending environment.SBI plans to set up a special NBFC Alliance department.

4.Principal Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal approved JSW Steel's Rs 19,700 cr bid for Bhushan Power & Steel. Bhushan Power owes close to Rs 50000 cr to a consortium of lenders led by Punjab National Bank.It’s one of 12 large stressed a/c RBI identified for resolution.

7.Health Minister Harsh Vardhan kick-started POSHAN Maah 2019 with a year-long social & mass media campaign on the Eat Right India movement. 8.For the development of Russian Far East, India has decided to give line of credit worth $1 bn under the govt’s Act East policy in the 20th Indo-Russia annual summit. India is a very attractive source of manpower exports to the Far East.Both nations have set $30 bn trade target by 2025.

9.28th edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol b/w IN & Royal Thai Navy is being conducted. IN Ship Kesari & His Majesty’s Thailand Ship (HTMS) Kraburi along with Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both the navies are participating in the CORPAT.UNCLOS- United Nations Conventions on Laws of the Sea.

10.Acclaimed English-Marathi journalist and writer Kiran Nagarkar passed away at the age of 77. He wrote "Cuckold" (1997) which won him the 2001 Sahitya Akademi award. His other works include God's Little Soldier (2006), Ravan and Eddie (2004).His 1st Marathi novel- Saat Sakkam Treychalis (1974)
