ONE LINER OF THE DAY 11th SEP 2019


1.UK has won the bid to host the 26th Conference of the Parties, known as COP26, following a partnership with Italy in which up to 30,000 delegates are expected to attend the event at Glasgow's Scottish Events Campus (SEC).UK Prime minister: Boris Johnson; Currency: Pound.

2.India lost 31% or 5.65 mha of grassland area in a decade, data shown by Union government during the ongoing 14th Conference of Parties (COP). The total area under grasslands reduced to 12.3 mha from 18 mha between 2005 & 2015.Aravalli range in Rajasthan underwent severe degradation.

3.Finance ministry has approved the expenditure of Rs 7,000 crore for NITI Aayog’s artificial intelligence (AI) programme. 9 priority areas have been identified for the AI project & a plan to establish National Artificial Intelligence Portal.NITI Aayog VC: Rajiv Kumar.

4.Retired Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Justice P Lakshmana Reddy was appointed as the state's new Lokayukta, for the next five years. He is the first Lokayukta to take charge in Andhra since the state's bifurcation in 2014.B Subhashan Reddy served as Lokayukta for both TS & AP before.

5.PM Modi dedicated to the nation India’s 2nd riverine Multi Modal terminal built at Sahibganj in Jharkhand. Built at a cost of Rs 290 crores, it is the 2nd of the 3 Multi Modal Terminals being constructed on river Ganga under Jal Marg Vikas Project.PM had inaugurated the MMT at Varanasi in 2018.

6.Blackstone Group has signed a term sheet to acquire the remaining 50% stake in Indiabulls Real Estate’s commercial properties for over Rs 4,420 cr., including rights to assets at BLU in Mumbai’s Worli area & Sectors 104 & 106 in Gurgaon.Indiabulls intends for a merger with Laxmi Vilas Bank, Chennai.

7.Swiss power major ABB India and National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research have set up a digital simulation lab in Chandigarh , a first-of-its-kind multi-physics 'Simulation Center of Excellence' to enhance skill development in country.Funding for the project is part of ABB India's CSR initiative.

8.Ministry of skills development and entrepreneurship has joined hands with Tata Group to set up an Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, with an invest around ₹300 cr. IIS will be developed on a public-private-partnership (PPP) model.Land for IIS will be provided by govt & capital from TATA group.

9.Government has set up a 3-member panel to oversee the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, which will come into existence on 31st of October 2019. The committee is headed by Former Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra.Govt had abrogated special status given to J&K under Art 370.

10.PM Modi launched National Animal Disease Control Programme for eradicating Foot & Mouth Disease/Brucellosis in the livestock from Mathura, UP, aimed at vaccinating over 500 Mn Livestock including cattle, buffalo, sheep, etc. against the disease.It is slated fro implementation over 5 years till 2024
