1.India now has 2,967 tigers & growth in the 4th cycle of the Tiger Census has been a 33%. PM Narendra Modi released All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018 emphasising that India has achieved the target of doubling tiger population 4 years before deadline.Madhya Pradesh saw the highest number of tigers at 526.

2.The third edition of Khelo India Youth Games will be held in Guwahati next year as announced by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. It will be conducted in partnership with Indian Olympic Association, School Games Federation of India & Assam as host State.2019 Khelo India Youth Games were held in Pune.

3.IPS officer VK Johri has been appointed as next Director General of BSF. He is presently serving as the Special Secretary (RAW), under the Cabinet Secretariat & will take over the charge of the BSF from incumbent Rajni Kant Mishra, on 31st of July.He is 1984-batch Indian Police Service officer of MP cadre.

4.6-time world champion Mary Kom in 51kg category and Simranjit Kaur in 60kg category grabbed a gold each in 23rd President's Cup Boxing Tournament in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Indian boxers finished their campaign in the Tournament with nine medals.Indian medal tally comprised 7 gold, 2 silver.

5.Red Bull's driver Max Verstappen clinched the rain-hit German Grand Prix at Hockenheim while Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel claimed the second spot and Russian Daniil Kvyat achieved the third spot for Toro Rosso.Inaugural season of Formula One racing was held in 1950.

6.Indian Railways' Northeast Frontier Railway zone has started a unique initiative to earmark a special portion of the SLR coach with pink colour which is done to specially help the women passengers with better safety and security.8 trains in Rangiya division have begun operations with same.

7.IDFC institute, a think-tank, Indian cities are more urban than recognised and contribute between 59% and 70% of India’s gross domestic product. The report pegs India’s urbanisation rate to be anywhere between 47% and 65%.₹48,000 crore were allocated in budget for MoHUA

8.Moodbidri Cooperative Service Bank Ltd., a cooperative bank in Dakshina Kannada is offering ₹5,000 as incentive to its members who carry out rainwater harvesting, to re-charge open wells in two villages nearby during the ongoing monsoon season.State govt had declared Moodbiri as drought-hit in 2017.

9.Meghalaya Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Donkupar Roy passed away recently in a Gurugram hospital at the age of 64. He was seen as one of the most influential politicians from the Khasi community.He headed the United Democratic Party (UDP).

10.22-year-old Bernal, the youngest rider & first Colombian to win the Tour de France when he retained the overall leader's yellow jersey after Sunday's 21st and final stage won by Caleb Ewan of Australia.Tour de France is annual cycling event with 21 day-long stages.
