1.Bandhan Bank announced the appointment of Siddhartha Sanyal as chief economist and head of research who will spearhead the bank’s research and business strategy. He was the director and chief India economist of Barclays Bank Plc.‘Aapka Bhala, Sabki Bhalai’ is the tagline of Bandhan Bank.

2.July 30 is celebrated as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. It is observed to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking & for the protection of their rights. 2019 Theme: ‘Human Trafficking: Call Your Government to Action’.Acc to UNODC, around 225000 victims of trafficking were detected.

3.India’s seventh Economic Census began from Tripura and a similar task would be launched in other States and Union Territories across the country next month. The IT-enabled economic census would be done by the Common Service Centres in each gram panchayat.Economic Census nodal officer - Arup Kumar Chanda.

4.India & Mozambique have signed two Memoranda of Understanding on sharing white shipping information & co-operation in the field of Hydrography. The agreement will further strengthen the ongoing Indo-Mozambican Defence co-operation and their relations.Mozambique: Capital – Maputo; Currency – Metical.

5.According to the report by Wood Mackenzie, India's renewable energy cost is the lowest in the Asia Pacific. The levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) using solar photovoltaic has fallen to $38 per MWh. It was 14% cheaper than coal-fired power.India is the 2nd largest power market in the Asia Pacific.

6.Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the Sachivalaya or Secretariat building in Bhubaneswar will now be called ‘Lok Seva Bhavan’. The Odisha secretariat building was inaugurated on Nov 12, 1959, by Home Minister Govind Ballabh Pant.Odisha Rasagola recently got a Geographical Indication tag.

7.The Indian Federation of Sports Gaming (IFSG) has appointed justice A K Sikri as its ombudsman and ethics officer. He will be responsible for investigating queries/complaints raised by the users of the online fantasy sports gaming platforms.Anwar Shirpurwala – Chief Executive Officer of IFSG.

8.India has signed a deal worth around ₹ 1500 Cr to acquire R-27 air-to-air missiles from Russia to be equipped on the Su-30MKI combat aircraft. They have been acquired under 10-I projects which mandate the 3 services to maintain critical weapon systems.R-27 missile is a medium-to-long-range air-to-air missile.

9.Scientists at IIT Hyderabad have developed low-cost, environment-friendly solar cells by employing an off-the-shelf dye used to make Kumkum/vermilion in India. A dye-sensitized solar cell is based on New Fuchsin dye with an aqueous electrolyte.DSSC devices tend to get degraded with atmospheric moisture.

10.In Gujarat, senior BJP leader and former Lok Sabha MP Vithalbhai Radadiya died. He was 61. He was the six-time MLA and also served as a Minister in the Gujarat government. He was considered as a popular farmers' leader of Saurashtra.
