1.Vipin Anand took charge as the Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). He was instrumental in setting up LIC’s operations in Singapore and Bangladesh.MR Kumar is the Chairman of LIC.

2.RBI reduced the repo rate under (Liquidity Adjustment Facility) by 25 basis points to 6% from 6.25% in the 1st Bimonthly Policy of FY 2019. Consequently, reverse repo rate adjusted to 5.75% and the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate & Bank Rate to 6.25%.RBI projected GDP growth for 2019-20 at 7.2%.

3.Kandhamal Haldi', a variety of turmeric indigenous to southern Odisha, has earned the Geographical indication (GI) tag from Intellectual Property India, an organisation functioning under the auspices of the Union ministry of commerce & industry.Odisha’s Foundation Day (Utkal Divas) is celebrated on 1 April.

4.In a bid to further ease liquidity ahead of upcoming general elections, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the second round of dollar-rupee swap auction in less than a month to inject another $5 billion (about Rs 34,500 crore) into the banking system.On March 26, RBI had bought $5B through similar auction.

6.Vikram Patel has become the 1st Indian to be awarded 2019 John Dirks Canada Gairdner Global Health Award for his research in global mental health, generating knowledge on the burden & determinants of mental health problems in low & middle income countries.Global Health Award is given by the Gairdner Foundation.

7.The Ultimate Kho-Kho League, featuring 8 teams consisting of national & international players, has been proposed to be staged in two cities in September-October this year according to the Kho Kho Federation of India.President of Kho Kho Federation of India is Sudhanshu Mittal.

8.Former actress Mayoori Kango has joined Google India as its industry head – agency business. Mayoori, who chose films over joining IIT Kanpur, left acting in the 2000s. Before Google, she was working as the Managing Director at Performics.Rajan Anandan quits as MD of Google India.

9.State of Global Air report 2019 revealed that of the total 49 lakh deaths due to diseases caused by exposure to air pollution in 2017, India & China accounted for the most with 12 lakh deaths each. South Asia (Ban,Ind,Nep & Pak) is the most polluted region.Gurugram is the most polluted city in the world.

10.Reliance Jio has acquired 87% stake in Mumbai-based Haptik to build India's largest AI assistant company across chat, voice and vernacular languages. In the ₹700-crore deal, ₹230 crore will go for business transfer & ₹470 crore will go towards expansion.Aakrit Vaish & Swapan Rajdev are the co-founders of Haptik.
