ONE LINER OF THE DAY 3rd APRIL 2019


1.The Asian Development Bank (ADB) downgraded economic growth forecasts for India for 2019. GDP in India will increase 7.2 percent in FY 2019, down from a December forecast of 7.6 percent, according to the ADB’s latest Asian Development Outlook report.ADB President- Takehiko Nakao HQ- Manilla, Philippenes.

2.The third edition of bilateral maritime exercise between Royal Australian and Indian Navies AUSINDEX-19 commenced on 2 April 2019 at Visakhapatnam. The maiden edition of the exercise was also held at Visakhapatnam in September 2015.AUSTRA HIND is a joint military exercise between Ind and Aus.

3.Media professional and former ESPN Star Sports Managing Director Manu Sawhney took charge as Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and will work alongside Dave Richardson, who will step down after the World Cup in July.Shashank Vyankatesh Manohar is the chairman of ICC.

4.Saurav Ghosal became the first Indian male squash player to enter the top 10 in latest Professional Squash Association (PSA) world rankings. Indian women squash players Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal had earlier reached top 10 in the world rankings.World Squash Federation is the highest governing body of squash.

5.Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management (RNAM) partners with Google to launch India’s first voice-based financial transactions. Customers of Reliance Mutual Fund can now carry out voice-based financial transactions.RNAM is JV b/w Reliance Capital & Japan’s Nippon Life Insurance.

6.Victor Axelsen beats Kidambi Srikanth to win India Open 2019 badminton tournament. In women's singles, Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon created history by becoming the first women's singles shuttler to win the title three times beating He Bingjiao.Lee Chong Wei is only another player to win Indian Open 3 times.

7.The Supreme Court scrapped the RBI circular issued on 12 February 2018 that declares a company bankrupt even on a 1 day overdue and lenders must provide for resolution plan within 180 days in case of the large account of ₹2,000 crore & above.The bench was headed by Justice R.F. Nariman.

8.British racing driver Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes won the Bahrain Grand Prix 2019. Five-time world champion Hamilton's win was the 74th of his career. He is now 17 wins short of Michael Schumacher's record of 91.Chinese Grand Prix is scheduled to held from 14 April.

9.WhatsApp launched a fact-checking service 'Checkpoint' tipline in collab with New Delhi-based startup PROTO to curb the spread of fake news ahead of Lok Sabha elections. Users can send rumors or uncertain information for verification at '+919643000888'.Abhijit Bose is the head of WhatsApp India.

10.Eminent theatre organiser and playwright Kartik Chandra Rath passed away at the age of 70 years. Rath has penned over a hundred plays and directed over 500 plays in his career as a dramatist.He was a recipient of Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi award.
