ONE LINER OF THE DAY 25th APRIL 2019


1.The world's first-ever malaria vaccine was launched in a pilot project in Africa's Malawi. It took 30 years to make the ‘RTS,S’ vaccine. About 93% of the world's malaria-related deaths in 2017 occurred in Africa.Malawi Capital- Lilongwe Currency- Kwacha.

2.PU Chitra won gold in women’s 1500m race at the Asian Athletics Championships in Doha while Dutee Chand clinched the bronze medal in the 200-metre sprint. India ended 4th in the medals tally with 3 Gold, 7 Silver & 7 Bronze (17 Medals).Bahrain topped the table with 22 Medals (11 G,7 S & 4 B).

3.Based on the recommendation of second Narasimham Committee, the Reserve Bank has divested its entire stake worth Rs 1450cr in National Housing Bank (NHB) and Rs 20cr in National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).M. Narsimham was the 13th governor of the RBI.

4.National Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated every year on 24 April. This day commemorates the 73rd Amendment Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24th April 1993 that vested constitutional status on Panchayati Raj institutions.Minister of Panchayati Raj – Narendra Singh Tomar.

5.State Bank of India announced the country’s first ‘Green Car Loan’ to encourage customers to buy electric vehicles. The new scheme will offer loan at 20 basis points lesser than the interest rate on the existing car loan schemes.The government aims for 30% electric vehicles by the year 2030.

6.BSE has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Network Intelligence, a global cybersecurity services provider & CERT-IN empanelled vendor to provide cybersecurity services to its members in line with the cybersecurity framework set by SEBI.Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is India’s largest stock exchange.

7.On April 24 2019, the first official International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace was celebrated and the General Assembly convened a high-level plenary meeting to commemorate and promote the day.Maria F Espinosa is president of the 73rd UN General Assembly.

8.15-years old Indian-origin boy Ranveer Singh Sandhu has been lauded as Britain's youngest accountant after setting up an accountancy firm. He was the winner of the Tech Business of the Year prize at the Ultra Education Kids Business Awards.Theresa May is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

9.Syndicate Bank and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), a 'Miniratna' Public Sector Undertaking, have signed an MOU for financing Earth Moving and Construction Equipment manufactured by BEML.Syndicate Bank HQ- Manipal CEO- Mrutyunjay Mahapatra

10.To promote the importance of vaccination and immunization, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is organising World Immunisation Week from 24 April to 30 April.WHO declared India ‘Polio-Free’ in 2014.
