ONE LINER OF THE DAY 8th April 2018.


1.The Prime Minister has announced that on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti a “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” would be organised starting from 14th April to 5th May, 2018. This Abhiyan is being undertaken for reaching out to poor households, spreading awareness about government welfare schemes and other people centric initiatives.

2.Samata Diwas'. The day is so called to match his belief of bringing equality among all in the society.Jagjivan Ram was born on 5 April 1908, in Chandwa in a harijan family. At that time society played many societal taboos on them and the harsh rules made his world very weird from others. He was filled with anguish at the sad plight of the untouchables.

3.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) asked all payment system operators in India to store data within the country by the next 6 months. The Apex bank noted that in order to have unfettered access to all payment data for supervisory purposes, payment system operators have been asked to ensure that data related to payment systems are stored only inside the country. The bank Ensuring the safety and security of payment systems data by adoption of the best global standards and their continuous monitoring and surveillance is essential to reduce the risks from data breaches while maintaining a healthy pace of growth in digital payments.” According to the central bank, currently, only a certain percentage of payment system operators and their outsourcing partners store the user data within the country, either partially or completely.

4.Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has launched the state component of Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in Agartala.He has assured that the target to give training to more than 1 lakh 16,000 youths by 2020 will be achieved.Tripura is the first state in the country to implement pilot project for accreditation for skilled candidates.

5.The Uttar Pradesh Government launched the Ganga Hariteema Yojana, also known as Ganga Greenery scheme, on in the 27 districts of Uttar Pradesh that are located on the bank of river Ganga.The scheme aims to enhance the green cover in the catchment areas of the river Ganga and to control the land erosion.

6.President Ram Nath Kovind was conferred with the Condecoracion, the highest honour accorded to a non-citizen by the government of Equatorial Guinea while his visit there.President Kovind was bestowed with the medal of the Gran Colar de la Independencia by his counterpart Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, for his contribution to the cause of development, security and world peace.

7.In a bid to use technology for farmers' benefit, Tamil Nadu government come out with a mobile application named 'Uzhavan' (farmer) app that will allow ryots to have access to nine types of services including details about their crop insurance. It was launched by Chief Minister K Palaniswami. The app can be used by farmers to get information on farm subsidies, book farm equipment and related infrastructure and get details on their crop insurance besides receiving weather forecast for the next four days. Palaniswami also launched the 'Amma Bio-Fertiliser' scheme.

8.The Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for 2018 is being awarded to Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma for her genre-defining successful movies.The 29-year-old actress is being widely revered for breaking new grounds as a film producer, along with her brother Karnesh Sharma.Anushka along with her brother Karnesh have also empowered young talent by giving them big-ticket breaks in the industry as directors, musicians, composers, technicians, etc by backing and believing raw talent.

9.Gobar-dhan Yojana’, the central scheme for managing and converting cattle dung into manure and biogas, is about to be launched.The scheme will be launched at national level from Karnal in Haryana on April 30.Under this scheme, one village in every district of the country would be selected for its implementation.

10.Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who has worked in both the Hindi film industry and southern cinema, will be felicitated with Sridevi Award at the Zee Apsara Awards.She will be honoured for her contribution to cinema and as a deserving woman achiever here on Sunday, read a statement.
