1.The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Malaysia concluded joint military exercise “Desert Tiger 5” aimed at sharing expertise and enhancing joint military actions in Dubai, UAE. The military exercise was aimed at raising the level of performance and combat efficiency and working together between both countries based on the strategy to improve the overall ability and combat readiness of ground forces.
2.India and Equatorial Guinea signed four agreements including in the field of health. The agreements were signed following delegation level talks. President Kovind had one on one talks with his Equatorial Guinea counterpart. 3.In a bid to use technology for farmers’ benefit, the Tamil Nadu Government has come out with a mobile application that will allow ryots to have access to nine types of services, including details about their crop insurance.Chief Minister K Palaniswami has launched the bi-lingual ‘Uzhavan’ (farmer) app.The app can be used by farmers to get information on farm subsidies, book farm equipment and related infrastructure and get details on their crop insurance, besides receiving weather forecast for the next four days.
4.Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition won the general elections in Hungary on 8th April.Former radical Jobbik party came second with 20% of the vote, and MSZP-P (Socialist-Dialogue) third with 12.13%.
5.The two-day Assam Spring Festival began at the Manas National Park where visitors will get to experience the state's local food, music, handloom and handicrafts.The National park which is also a tiger and rhino reserve covers five districts of Assam -- Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang, Udalguri and Barpeta.
6.Indian shooters Mehuli Ghosh and Apurvi Chandela bagged silver and bronze respectively in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle competition at Commonwealth Games 2018.Singapore bagged the gold medal.
7.The Government of India has approved the linking of Post Office savings accounts with that of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).This will enable Post Office account holders to transfer money from their savings account to any bank accounts.IPPB is governed by Reserve Bank of India and banking service of post offices comes under the Ministry of Finance.
8.Singles star Manika Batra won two matches as India's women's table tennis team upset favourites Singapore to clinch its maiden Gold medal at the 21st Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast on Sunday.
9.SBI will be investing a total of Rs 80 billion in the ‘Arun III’ hydropower project of Nepal, which will produce 900 megawatts of electricity.The SJVN, which has been awarded with the construction of the mega power project of Nepal, has made an informal agreement with the SBI to acquire the investment as a loan.The mega project is targeted to be completed by 2022’s September.
10.Haryana government has decided to provide special benefits, including nutritional support, to tuberculosis patients in an effort to eliminate the infectious disease by 2025.The government would provide nutritional support of Rs 500 per month during treatment to notified TB patients.Free services would be provided to TB patients in government hospitals of Haryana, including X-Ray.
