ONE LINER OF THE DAY 18th April 2018.


1.India & Sweden have agreed to deepen their cooperation in Smart Cities initiative, transport & energy sectors.The 2 countries will exchange knowledge & explore cooperation on smart cities, including transit-oriented urban development, air pollution control & waste management.Both sides will also exchange know-how & explore cooperation in areas of electro-mobility as well as renewable fuels.

2.Aditi Rao Hydari will receive Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for the Best Leading Lady (Critics Award) for her memorable performance in Bhoomi.The award ceremony will be held in Mumbai. It will be attended by producers, directors, distributors and exhibitors among others from the film fraternity.

3.First meeting of National Council on India's Nutrition Challenges under POSHAN Abhiyaan to be held on April 18, 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.It will see the participation of Shri Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman NITI Aayog,  Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog apart from representatives of various ministries of the Central and State Governments. The POSHAN Abhiyaan targets reduction in the level of under-nutrition and other related problems by ensuring convergence of various nutrition related schemes.

4.HRD Ministry will launch ‘Study in India’ portal that aims to target foreign students to be admitted in Indian institutesIt will enable students from 30 countries to apply for different courses from 150 Indian institutions.Study in India programme’s objective is to target foreign students by branding India as an attractive education destination.

5.UNESCO- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.France's Audrey Azoulay- 11th DG of UNESCO, Headquarters- Paris, France.

6.India was ranked 10th on a new Commonwealth Innovation Index which was topped by UK, Singapore & Canada.The index has been created in partnership with United Nations World Intellectual Property Organisation & its annual Global Innovation Index.It is aimed at providing a tool that allows member states, organisations & citizens to benchmark themselves against 53 countries of Commonwealth.

7.MoS for Communication, Manoj Sinha launched DARPAN-Postal Life Insurance App in New Delhi.The App will help in collection of premium for Postal & Rural postal life insurance policies at Branch Post offices anywhere in India, with online updation of policies.It will help Department of Posts in providing better after-sales service to customers, particularly those living in rural areas.

8.Nameri National Park is a national park in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in the Sonitpur District of AssamIndia, about 35 km from Tezpur.

9.Satkosia Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve located in the Angul district of OdishaIndia covering an area of 988.30 km.It is located where the Mahanadi River passes through a 22 km long gorge in the Eastern Ghats mountains.

10.Pench National Park or Tiger Reserve is one of the premier tiger reserves of India and the only one to straddle across two states - Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Ordinarily, the reference to Pench is mostly always to the tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh(M.P).
