1.According to the database of the IMF’s World Economic Outlook for April 2018, India’s GDP clocked in at $2.6 trillion for 2017.India is now the world’s sixth largest economy, displacing France.The five economies ahead of India are the United States, China, Japan, Germany and United Kingdom.IMF expects India to grow at 7.4% in 2018 and 7.8% in 2019.

2.The first-ever international SME convention will be organized from 22 to 24 April 2018 in New Delhi. Here 150 participants from 31 countries and 400 entrepreneurs from India will participate, the MSME ministry said.

3.Madhya Pradesh has been announced as the Most Film Friendly State for its efforts towards easing filming in the state.MP has offered excellent on ground support, filmic infrastructure, an informative website and incentives for filmmaking.The jury for selecting the Most Film Friendly State Award 2017 was chaired by acclaimed filmmaker Ramesh Sippy.

4.Karan Johar has become the first-ever Bollywood filmmaker to get a place at the famous Madame Tussauds. The process has begun in London and it will take about six months for the wax figurine to be ready.

5.World Liver Day is commemorated on 19th April every year to build awareness and understanding how important the liver is for our body.This year, the theme of World Liver Day 2018 is ‘Riding New Waves in Liver Diagnosis, Staging & Treatment’.

6.Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has launched a health scheme of the Assam government that offers free medical care of up to 2 lakh rupees.The cashless scheme Atal Amrit Abhiyan offers free medical care of up to Rs. 2 lakh for every individual from Below and Above Poverty Line families.

7.India has been recording the highest growth rate amongst the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) economies, as per report of KPMG titled “India Soars Higher”.As pr the report, Indian economy is likely to grow at 7.4 per cent in 2018.

8.Director General of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Dilip Chenoy, has been appointed as the Secretary General of the industry body.The decision came after incumbent Secretary General, Sanjaya Baru decided to step down from his position.

9.Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan will be felicitated with a Lifetime Achievement honour at the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards for his contribution as a producer, director, screenwriter, editor and actor in Hindi films.

10.RBI has placed restrictions on business activities of City Co-operative Bank till such time as its financial position improves.Customers of the bank will not be allowed to withdraw more than Rs 1000 of the total balance held in their accounts.Bank will have to take prior approval from RBI before it can disburse loan, make any investment, borrow funds or accept new deposit.
