1.Jammu and Kashmir Bank has launched a special financing scheme named 'Add-on Working Capital GST' to help the state industry cope with the delay in reimbursement of GST under special tax relief. The scheme was launched by J&K Finance Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari.
2.Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has approved setting up a 5,000 MW capacity solar park at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), which would be the largest such entity in the world after its completion.The proposed solar power generation project would be set up in 11,000 hectares of land with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore.The project will contribute significantly in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of producing 175 gigawatt of electricity through renewable energy sources by 2022
3.Google is marking the 114th birth anniversary of actor – singer Kundan Lal Saigal with a doodle of the late maestro.Saigal was Bollywood’s first legitimate ‘superstar’, and appeared in 36 films made in three languages, and sang 185 songs in his 15 – plus – year career.Saigal got his big break in 1932 when he was cast in three films by a film studio called New Theatres.
4.Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has been elected chairman of 'Boao Forum for Asia' (BFA). He has replaced former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda.Founded in 2001, the BFA is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals.
5.An Indian Consortium consisting of IOCL, BPCL and HPCL and Saudi Aramco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and build an integrated refinery and petrochemicals complex, Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (RRPCL) in the State of Maharashtra.
6.India has jumped 13 places in the last one year to be earn 130th spot in the latest annual Index of Economic Freedom released by a top American think-tank.In 2017, India with a score of 52.6 points was ranked at 143 among 180 countries, two spots below neighbour Pakistan, according to the Index of Economic Freedom.
7.The 2018 Asia Cup, that was earlier scheduled to be held in India, has now been moved out to the United Arab Emirates.The decision was taken following a meeting of the executive board of the Asian Cricket Council held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the winner of Asia Cup qualifier will compete in the 50-overs format event.
8.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed monetary penalty worth Rs. 3 crore on IDBI Bank for not complying with the outlined norms related to reporting of bad loans.The penalty was imposed on account of non-compliance with the directions issued on Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms.
9.The Asian Development Bank (ADB) noted that the Indian economy is set to expand by 7.3% in fiscal year (FY) 2018 and 7.6% in the next fiscal, aided by various growth-oriented policy measures.The Bank, in its Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2018 report, noted that the dip in growth to 6.6 percent in FY2017 was driven in part by lingering effects of demonetisation, which impacted the informal sector in the first half of the fiscal.
10.India signed a MoU with Korea on Mutual Recognition of Certificates of Competency of Seafarers.This paves the way for the two governments to mutually recognize the certificates of maritime education and training, competency, endorsements and medical fitness of seafarers issued by each other.The agreement will open up employment opportunities for Indian seafarers on Korean ships.
