2.The Ministry of Commerce & Industry launched the third version of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM 3.0). The earlier version GeM 2.0 was launched a GeM 2.0 was launched as pilot project in August 2016. GeM 3.0 will offer standardized and enriched catalog management, powerful search engine. GeM is an Online Market platform to facilitate procurement of goods and services by various Ministries and agencies of the Government.
3.President’s monthly salary to be ₹5 lakh.While presenting the Union Budget 2018, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced that the President’s monthly salary will be increased to ₹5 lakh from the earlier ₹1.5 lakh.Further, the Vice President’s monthly salary will be increased to ₹4 lakh from ₹1.25 lakh.The government has proposed a law to automatically revise MPs’ salaries every 5 years.

5.The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) appointed its joint secretary Vikram Singh Sisodia as the Chef-de-Mission for the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia. The IOA also appointed three team managers to accompany Sisodia and help him in the day-to-day duties during the Games. Sisodia is also currently the president of Chhattisgarh State Tennis Association.
6.₹14.3 lakh cr to be spent on rural infrastructure.Arun Jaitley said that the government has allocated ₹14.3 lakh crore to be spent for rural infrastructure.He said every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal people will have a model residential school by 2022.He added social security will be provided to aged, widows, and orphaned children.

8.The union government made Permanent Account Number (PAN) mandatory for any entity conducting financial transactions of 2.5 lakh or more. Adding that an Aadhaar-like identity number is being developed for enterprises PAN card will also be used as a Unique Entity Number for non-individuals from April 1.

The 17-day cultural extravaganza will see a spectacular showcase of regional and international crafts, handlooms, traditions along with some mouth-watering multi-cuisine food for the visitors.
