ONE LINER OF THE DAY 3rd FEB 2018.


1.Credit for agriculture to be ₹11 lakh cr.Finance minister said the government will focus on strengthening rural, agriculture economy.It credit for agriculture is increased from 10 trillion rupees to 11 trillion rupees.Minimum support price of all crops will be increased to at least 1.5 times of production cost and export of agriculture commodities to be liberalised.

2.Rwanda has become the first low-income country to provide universal eye care for its 12 million population.The government has partnered with the organisation Vision for a Nation (VFAN) to train more than 3,000 eye care nurses based in 502 local health centres, prescribing glasses and referring those with serious eye problems to national clinics..

3.The union government and World Bank signed a $100 million (about Rs 6,400 crore) loan agreement to promote rural economy in selected blocks of Tamil Nadu across 26 districts, benefiting over 4 lakh people. The funding aimed at promoting rural enterprises, facilitate their access to finance and create employment opportunities for youth particularly women. The Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project will create an enabling environment for producer organizations and enterprises to promote businesses across select value chains.

4.Kalesar National Park and adjacent Kalesar Wildlife Sanctuary  are protected areas in Yamunanagar district of Haryana state in India.

5.The world’s longest zipline will open in the United Arab Emirates , propelling thrill-seekers at speeds of up to 150 kilometres an hour down the Middle East country’s highest mountain peak.

6.In order to boost the rapidly developing sector of Urban development, Andhra Pradesh government will be organizing a three-day innovation summit on the theme of ‘Urban transformation to Global Living’. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced that Happy Cities Summit will be held between April 10 and 12 in Bhavani Island on Krishna River where experts and various industry players will attend that grand event to brainstorm on various dimensions of building smart and sustainable cities. Addressing the meeting of CRDA officials, the Chief Minister suggested that subject like citizen-centricity urban innovation, next-generation technology, urban planners, urban transportation, architecture, and designing should be included during Happy Cities Summit.

7.Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) committee decided to bestow V. Shantaram lifetime achievement Award to veteran film producer and director Shyam Benegal. The award will be presented at concluding ceremony of MIFF in Mumbai. He will be awarded a trophy, cash price of 10 lakh rupees, a certificate and a shawl by Governor of Maharashtra C. Vidyasagar Rao. Benegal has been selected for his contribution to the promotion of the documentary movement.

8.National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005  later renamed as the "Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act", MGNREGA  2006), is an Indian labour law and social security measure that aims to guarantee the 'right to work'. MGNREGA DAY 2nd Feb.

9.The first two-day Global Investment Summit has been organized in Assam. The summit emphasizes on promoting investments in the state and the North East. The conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  Businessmen like Ratan Tata and Mukesh Ambani are taking part in the Summit. Investor's from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Germany, and Japan as well as ASEAN countries will attend the summit.

10.Senior-most Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Neelam Kapur was appointed Director-General of Sports Authority of India (SAI). She is at present the Principal Director General of the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP). It is for the first time that an IIS officer has been appointed as SAI chief. The post is usually held by an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
