ONE LINER OF THE DAY 17th JAN 2018.


1.The ‘I4Fund Call for Proposal’ was announced with the joint launch of the website and the unveiling of the brochure by the two PMs.The "India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F)" was announced in July, 2017 during the PM’s visit to Israel. Under this, the Department of Science and Technology, India and the National Innovation Authority of Israel have established a 40 million US dollar Fund.
Through this flagship bilateral program in the field of science, technology and innovation, support will be extended to R&D projects. This Fund will provide a comprehensive set of support tools to encourage joint projects that convert “know-how” into “show-how”.
2.Sondur Dam is located in Dhamtari District of Chhattisgarh in India.It was constructed in 1988 across Sondur River. The catchment area of the Sondur river up to the dam is 518 km.
3.Veteran NK passed away.had worked at the Times of Group's Hindi newspaper 'Navbharat Times' for a long time and was also the of its edition.
4.India, for the first time, took part in a meeting of the international military cooperation departments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Beijing, China, since joining the bloc last year.This is the first meeting attended by India in the field of defence cooperation under the SCO framework.The SCO comprises of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan.
5.Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 15 kilometres from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India.
6.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on a visit to India, have inaugurated the iCreate centre in Ahmedabad’s Deo Dholera Village.iCreate will provide a safe landing pad for Israeli entrepreneurs for exploring the Indian market.
7.Government of India created the RIDF in NABARD in 1995-96, with an initial corpus of Rs.2,000 crore. With the allocation of Rs.25,000 crore for 2017-18 under RIDF XXIII, the cumulative allocation has reached Rs.2,92,500 crore, including Rs. 18,500 crore under Bharat Nirman.At present, there are 36 eligible activities under RIDF as approved by GoI. . The eligible activities are classified under three broad categories i.e. 1.Agriculture and related sector. 2.Social sector . 3.Rural connectivity.
8.Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders is named winner of the 2017 Man Booker Prize for Fiction. Lincoln in the Bardo is the first full-length novel from George Saunders, internationally renowned short story writer.
9.David Grossman (Israel), Jessica Cohen (translator), for Novel: A Horse Walks Into a Bar.Grossman became the first Israeli author to  win The Man Booker International Prize.The prize, sharing the £50,000 award with Cohen.
10.The NI Act, 1881, defines a Negotiable Instrument as a promissory note, Bill of Exchange or cheque. A Bill of Exchange is an instrument in writing containing an unconditional order, signed by the maker, directing a certain person to pay a certain sum of money only to, or to the order of, a certain person or to the bearer of the instrument.A cheque is a Bill of Exchange drawn on a specified banker and not expressed to be payable otherwise than on demand. The maker of a cheque is called the 'drawer', and the person directed to pay is the 'drawee'. The person named in the instrument, to whom or to whose order the money is, by the instrument directed, to be paid, is called the 'payee.
