ONE LINER OF THE DAY 14th SEP 2019


1.Hindi Diwas, is celebrated every year on September 14, marking the significance of the day when India's Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language of India. Hindi is one of the two official languages of the Union Government.Hindi is written in the Devanagri script.

2.Country's largest lender State Bank of India or SBI has come out with details on its website regarding revision of service charges. Effective 1st October, SBI will charge ₹20 plus GST for transaction decline due insufficient balance.Jet Airways is a subsidiary of SBI.

3.UN Secretary-General appointed Lieutenant General (retired) Abhijit Guha as the head of the world body's observer mission in Yemen's port city of Hodeidah. He will chair the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) and will also head UNMHA.He will succeed Lieutenant General Michael Lollesgaard.

4.Reserve Bank of India panel has recommended suitable measures, including the setting up of a credit guarantee scheme jointly by the Centre and States. This is meant to address gaps in credit delivery to the agriculture sector.It was headed by MK Jain, Deputy Governor RBI.

5.Govt. formed a Standing Committee for Information Technology comprising of 31 Members of Parliament (MP) from LS & RS with Shashi Tharoor as Chairperson . Committee may be asked to look into the Data Protection Bill whenever it is tabled in the parliament.Shashi Tharoor replaces BJP MP Anurag Thakur.

6.NPCI rationalised the merchant discount rate (MDR) for RuPay debit card transactions across Point-of-Sale (PoS), eCom, & BharatQR Code-based merchant transactions. MDR has been revised to 0.60 per cent for transactions above ₹2K, with a maximum cap of ₹150.For Bharat QR the MDR has also been reduced to 0.50 per cent.

7.Bengaluru-based company, SSS Defence has developed two sniper rifle prototypes to meet the requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. According to the company, the accuracy indicator Minute of Angle, are the best for both rifles in their class.CEO, SSS Defence, Vivek Krishnan.

8.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) proposed a minimum equity capital of Rs 200 crore to set up a small finance bank (SFB) under the 'on tap' licence regime to expand the banking services through high technology-low cost operations.The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935.

9.Anurag Katriar, CEO of deGustibus Hospitality that runs Indigo Deli chain has been appointed the new president of the National Restaurant Association of India. He will be replacing Rahul Singh. Kabir Suri, was appointed vice president.Zomato recently took Infinity Dining off the table.

10.Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella's father and former IAS officer BN Yugandhar ,80 passed away after brief illness. He was the top bureaucrat in the Rural Development Ministry when PV Narasimha Rao was the Prime Minister.He served in the PM's Office and the Planning Commission.
