ONE LINER OF THE DAY 20th June 2019


1.World Refugee Day is observed on June 20 to raise awareness about the conditions of refugees around the world who are forced to leave their homes due to war, persecution & conflict. 2019 theme is ‘Step with Refugees — Take A Step on World Refugee Day’.Acc. to UNHCR report in 2017, India is host to 200000 refugees.

2.Acc. to the ADB, Bangladesh has achieved the fastest growth in the Asia-Pacific economies comprising of 45 countries. The country attained a 7.9% growth in the FY 2018-19. The bank predicted that the growth will be 8% in the FY2019 & FY2020.Bangladesh.Capital – Dhaka.PM - Sheikh Hasina

3.IIT Bombay has emerged as the top Indian institute in the QS World University Ranking 2020. It is ranked at 152nd position & is the first to be featured in the list of global top 200. IIT-Delhi & IISc Bangalore ranked at 182nd & 184th position respectively.Massachusetts Institute of Technology topped the list.

4.National Payments Corporation of India has entered into an agreement with the Government of Telangana to offer MeeSeva portal users the option to pay using UPI Collect Request, RuPay Debit and Credit Cards for the services on the portal.Non – Executive Chairman of NPCI: Biswamohan Mahapatra.

5.RBI has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹10 lakh on South Indian Bank (SIB) for non-compliance with directions issued by it on ‘guarantees and Co-acceptances’. It has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.SIB: HQ – Thrissur; Tagline - Experience next-generation banking.

6.Om Birla has been elected as Speaker of 17th Lok Sabha. He is the MP from the Kota-Boondi constituency in Rajasthan. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Energy & Petitions & Consultative panel for Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.Pro-tem Speaker of Lok Sabha - Virendra Kumar.

7.Acc. to a report by Knight Frank, with $2.6 bn investment, India has ranked 20th among the top capital importing countries. The UK, the Netherlands, Germany, USA & Australia were the top destinations for Indian capital investments.China was at the 6th position with an investment of $14.30 bn.

8.The committee headed by UK Sinha has submitted its report to the governor of RBI Shaktikanta Das. It was set up to review the framework for the MSMEs & suggest long-term solutions for the economic & financial sustainability for the sector.UK Sinha is the former Chairman of SEBI.

9.Himachal Pradesh govt made a GPS device mandatory for trekkers to carry to tackle any exigency. It helps trekkers to get all possible help in case of an emergency. Also, Kullu & Dalhousie have been identified for the installation of early warning systems.Sanskrit is the 2nd official language of Himachal Pradesh.

10.Unemployed youth having graduation will get unemployment allowance up to Rs 3,500 under the Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Yuva Sambal Yojana.
