1.Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB) has approved an amalgamation with Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (IBH). The merged entity would be the 8th largest private sector bank by size & profitability. The merged entity will be known as Indiabulls Laxmi Vilas Bank.Gagan Banga & Parthasarthi Mukherjee will be the joint MDs.

2.Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi will release his upcoming biography "Game Changer", on April 30. The biography is written by well-known TV anchor and broadcaster, Wajahat S Khan.Shahid Afridi is nicknamed as Boom Boom and Lala.

3.Lawyer-turned-fashion model Sana Dua will be the brand ambassador for the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Sana has actively been engaged in promoting girl child education and "Save Water" campaign in the state.EC slogan for 2019 is “No Voter Should Be Left Behind”.

4.Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has been inducted into the International Hall of Fame at the US Army's Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth. General Rawat is an alumnus of the college, having graduated in 1997.Field Marshal is the highest rank in the Indian Army.

5.The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP) and EU ‘Global Report on Food Crises 2019′, shows that more than 113 million people across 53 countries experienced acute hunger in 2018.FAO HQ- Rome, Italy Director-General- Jose Graziano da Silva.

6.The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has dropped the usage fees for UPI transactions up to Rs 1,000, to 10 paise from 25 paise in a bid to expand the system’s adoption within banks and Payment Service Providers (PSPs).For transactions above Rs 1,000, the charge is 50 paise.

7.Sahulat', a mobile app aimed to facilitate voting by elders above 90 years was launched in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The voters can request for the facilities like wheelchair, transportation & any helper through the app.Jammu is winter while Srinagar is the summer capital of J&K.

8.Rakesh Malhotra, presently Consul General, Consulate General of India, Melbourne, has been appointed as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cameroon.Cambodia Capital- Phnom Penh Currency- Penh.

9.Padma Shri Dr. Viharidas Gopaldas Patel, fondly known as VG, a noted economist and hailed as the ‘Father of Entrepreneurship Movement’ in the country, passed away at Ahmedabad after a brief illness. He was 79 years.He set up Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India(EDII).

10.The World Bank's 25-member executive board has unanimously approved David Malpass as the next President, continuing the 73-year tradition of an American leading the bank. He was the only nominated candidate for the job.World Bank CEO- Kristalina Georgieva HQ- Washington D.C.
