1.Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria will take over as the Vice Chief of Indian Air Force (IAF) on May 1. Bhadauria will be succeeding Air Marshal Anil Khosla who is superannuating on April 30.Indian Air Force Day is celebrated on 8 October every year.

2.PhonePe launched a special keyboard that will allow users to transact conveniently and securely with just a click, anytime and anywhere while using their Android phone. It is the only player in India to introduce this user-friendly feature.PhonePe is owned by Flipkart.

3.Raheem Sterling has been named the 2019 footballer of the year by the Football Writers' Association (FWA). Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk was announced as the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) young player of the year.FIFA President- Gianni Infantino HQ- Zurich, Switzerland.

4.The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will launch an awareness programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) in collaboration with Bombay Stock Exchange Institute Limited from its July 2019 session.GST came into effect from 1 July 2017.

5.International Jazz Day is celebrated every year on 30 April in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. The 2019 edition would be launched in Melbourne, Australia by UNESCO.UNESCO Director-General- Audrey Azoulay

6.Canara Bank and its life insurance partner Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of Commerce Life Insurance announced the launch of ’Webassurance’ under which 4 life insurance products of Canara HSBC OBC Life would be made available to customers of Canara Bank online.Canara Bank MD & CEO- RA Sankara Narayanan HQ- Bengaluru.

7.India wrapped up their campaign at the Asian Wrestling Championships on a resounding note with 16 medals (1 Gold, 3 Silver & 4 Bronze) after Harpreet Singh settled for a silver in 82kg while Gyanender won a bronze in 60kg on the final day of competitions.Asian Wrestling Championship 2019 was held at Xi’an, China.

8.Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has been awarded a Rs 6,311 crore contract to build eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASWSWCs) for Indian Navy by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).Ships will be made under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

9.MetLife has been named in Forbes’ inaugural Blockchain 50 List, the first-ever ranking of the top 50 organizations that are leading the pack regarding adapting decentralized ledgers to their business. MetLife was recognized for its Vitana experiment.Vitana Experiment was launched in Singapore for pregnant women.

10.The former Ethiopian president, Dr. Negasso Gidada has died in Germany where he was undergoing medical treatment. Negasso, who was 75, was the president between 1995 and 2001.Ethiopia Capital- Addis Ababa Currency- Birr
