1.Airtel Payments Bank today launched a new two-wheeler insurance product in partnership with Bharti AXA General Insurance. This two-wheeler insurance product offers 70 per cent savings on annual premium.Airtel Payments Bank is the first payment bank of India.
2.Indian Navy Ships Kolkata & Shakti are scheduled to arrive Qingdao, China on 21 Apr 19 to participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR) as part of 70TH Anniversary celebrations of PLA (Navy). IFR is a parade of naval ships, aircraft and submarines.The 2nd IFR was conducted by India at Visakhapatnam in Feb 2016.
3.Delhi Metro trains will now run on solar power as the DMRC received 27 MW power from the Madhya Pradesh-based Rewa Solar Power Project. On average, about 345 million units (MU) of power will be received from Rewa in a calendar year.Rewa Ultra Mega Solar is solar power plant in Rewa district, MP.
4.NASA astronaut Christina Koch is going to have her mission on the International Space Station (ISS) extended to 328 days, which would set a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman. She is scheduled to remain in orbit until February 2020.She will break the record of 288 days set by Peggy Whitson.
5.Bank of Baroda and non-bank lender Srei Equipment Finance announced a co-lending for infrastructure equipment finance. Equipo, a CSR platform started by Srei's promoters, will facilitate the sourcing of loans.PS Jayakumar is the MD & CEO of Bank of Baroda.
6.Indiabulls General Insurance, a subsidiary of Indiabulls Integrated Services has received preliminary approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to start non-life insurance.Indiabulls Life Insurance received approval in January.
7.Deutsche Bank AG has appointed Kaushik Shaparia as the chief country officer for India after its former head Ravneet Singh Gill joined Yes Bank last month. Shaparia will take charge as India's head with effect from May 2019.Deutsche Bank HQ- Frankfurt, Germany CEO- Christian Sewing.
8.Reliance Retail has become India's first retail company to cross the ₹1 lakh crore annual revenue milestone. The retail arm of the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries reported revenues of ₹1.3 lakh crore for 2018-19, an 89% jump from the previous fiscal.Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in Asia.
9.World Liver Day is observed every year on 19 April to create awareness and understand the importance of the liver. According to WHO, liver diseases are the 10th most common cause of death in India.The liver is the 2nd largest organ of the body.
10.Dr Gagandeep Kang becomes the first Indian woman to be elected to the Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS). The Royal Society of London has announced a list of 51 eminent scientists elected to its fellowship in the year 2019.Manjul Bhargava & Akshay Venkatesh are also in the list.
