ONE LINER OF THE DAY 10th MARCH 2019


1.India’s largest lender State Bank of India will be India’s 1st bank to link its interest rate on savings bank deposits with a balance above ₹1 lakh & short-term loans to RBI's repo rate. The new system will come into effect from May 1.Sudha Balakrishnan is the 1st & current CFO of RBI.

2.2 stations on Delhi Metro's red line extension have been renamed in honor of martyrs. Rajendra Nagar Metro Station has been renamed as Major Mohit Sharma Rajendra Nagar station and the New Bus Adda station has been renamed to Shaheed Sthal.Major Mohit Sharma was posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra.

3.Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones of Buxar and Khurja Thermal Power Plants digitally from Greater Noida. These plants, 1320 MW each are situated at Buxar (Bihar) and Bulandshahar (Uttar Pradesh) respectively.Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy- Raj Kumar Singh.

4.The Ministry of Tourism has won the 1st Prize in the category of TV Cinema Spot at the prestigious international Golden City Gate Tourism Awards 2019 for Incredible India 2.0 Campaign. The awards were received by Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Tourism.The annual award ceremony takes place at ITB Berlin, Germany.

5.President Ram Nath Kovind launched the Pulse Polio Programme for 2019 by administering polio drops to children less than 5 years old at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on the eve of National Immunization Day which is celebrated on 10 March.WHO certified India as a Polio-Free Country in 2014.

6.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh which is built at an estimated cost Rs289 cr. He also unveiled a statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya at the campus.Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium is in Greater Noida.

7.Finance Minister Arun Jaitley released the book Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas - a collection of selected speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Information and Broadcasting Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore.Arun Jaitley is a Rajya Sabha Member representing Uttar Pradesh.

9.The Marayur jaggery got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, making it safe for consumption & ensuring a safe market in future. The dark brown Marayur jaggery is handmade at household units in Marayur & Kanthallur, Kerala.Central Travancore Jaggery is also GI tagged product of Kerala.

10.Guinness World Records officially recognized Kane Tanaka 116-year-old Japanese woman as the world's oldest living person. Tanaka was born on 2 January 1903. The previous oldest living person was Chiyo Miyako who died in July at age 117.Shinzo Abe is the Prime Minister of Japan & Yen is the currency.
