ONE LINER OF THE DAY 12th DECEMBER 2018


1.The Reserve Bank of India imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on Indian Bank for violating cybersecurity norms on 11 December 2018.This penalty has been imposed in the exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.RBI said that this action is based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance.

2.Steel Authority of India’s Hockey Academy won the 115th All India ‘Aga Khan Gold Cup’ hockey tournament 2018 in Delhi on 10 December 2018.They defeated the Army XI Danapur in the final match.SAIL’s Hockey Academy is run SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant.Aga Khan Gold Cup is one of the oldest hockey tournaments in the country.

3.The government of India appointed Shaktikanta Das as the governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 11 December 2018.The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared Shaktikanta Das’s appointment for a period of three years.He is currently the Member of the Finance Commission.He was the secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Finance Ministry.

4.Indian Ports Association under the guidance of the Ministry of Shipping launched the Port Community System ‘PCS1x’ on 11 December 2018.This system will enable trade to have an improved communication with the customs.It is a cloud-based technology with a user-friendly interface.The platform offers services such as notification engine, workflow, mobile application, track, and trace.

5.Kala Utsav’ was inaugurated by Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi on 12 December 2018.Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.The aim of the festival is to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talents of school students.

6.The Agriculture Ministry launched the online portal ‘Ensure’ to connect with direct benefit transfer and provide a simple, useful and transparent system to the beneficiary on 12 December 2018.The portal has been developed by NABARD.It is operated under the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries.Through this portal, the flow of information/funds will be quicker.

7.International Day of Neutrality is observed every year on 12 December.The aim of the day is to raise public awareness of the value of neutrality in international relations.It was officially declared by a UN General Assembly resolution adopted in February 2017 and first observed on 12 December 2017.

8.Comptroller and Auditor General Rajiv Mehrishi has become the Vice-Chair of the United Nation’s Panel of Auditors on 11 December 2018.The panel consists of 11 countries: India, Germany, Chile, Canada, France, Italy, the Philippines, Ghana, Indonesia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.Currently, the panel is chaired by the Comptroller and Auditor General of the United Kingdom.

9.International Universal Health Coverage Day is observed on 12 December.The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the need for strong and resilient health systems and universal health coverage with multi-stakeholder partners.The theme for 2018: ‘Unite for Universal Health Coverage: Now is the Time for Collective Action’.

10.Manipur Government honoured MC Mary Kom with the title ‘Meethoileima’ (par excellent queen) in Imphal on 11 December 2018.She was honoured with the title ‘Meethoileima’ for winning the sixth gold medal in the World Boxing Championship 2018.On the occasion, State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh handed over a cheque of ten lakh rupees to her.
