1.Jaipur-based poet and writer Sawai Singh Shekhawat will be honoured with Meera Puruskar by Rajasthan Sahitya Academy for his contribution to Hindi literature.Meera award is the highest award of the Rajasthan Sahitya Academy.
2.The festival of Nuakhai is being celebrated in Odisha on 14th September 2018.During this harvest festival of western Odisha, season’s first crop (Nabanna) is offered to presiding deities.After offering the Nabanna, people relish different types of delicacies prepared from the newly harvested crop.
3.L K Advani has been renominated as the chairman of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.The committee examines complaints relating to unethical conduct by members of Parliament.It is also free to take up suo motu investigation into the matters relating to ethics and unethical conduct by a member.
4.G-20 trade and investment ministerial meeting is being held in Argentina on 14th September 2018.Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu will participate in this meeting at Mar del Plata in Argentina.The G20 members include India, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, EU, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, UK and the US.
5.Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will embark on a three-nation tour to Serbia, Malta and Romania from September 14 to 20 to boost ties with the Central European countries.Naidu will be visiting Serbia from September 14, 2018, to September 16, 2018.The capital of the above countries are as follows: Serbia-Belgrade, Malta-Valletta and Romania-Bucharest.
6.Hindi Divas’ is being celebrated across the country on 14 September.On this day in 1949, Hindi written in Devanagari script became the official language of India under the Article 343.On this occasion, Vice President presents Rajbhasha Awards to chiefs of various departments, Ministries and offices for their outstanding performances in promoting the language.
7.The Cabinet approved a joint research on the distributed ledger and blockchain technology by Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) with member-banks of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS).Blockchain is a digitised, decentralised ledger to record real-time transactions across borders.Exim Bank promotes India’s international trade through competitive financing.
8.Vijay Shankar Vyas, an agricultural economist who had worked with Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh as a member of their Economic Advisory Councils (EAC) passed away.Prof. Vyas was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006.He had also served as a Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
9.Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be the next Chief Justice of India (CJI).Law Ministry has notified the appointment of Justice Gogoi on 13th September, 2018.He will succeed Chief Justice Dipak Misra, who will retire on 2nd October 2018.Justice Gogoi is the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court after Chief Justice Misra.
10.Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi launched the country’s first National Scholarship Portal Mobile App in New Delhi.Portal will ensure a smooth, accessible and hassle-free scholarship system for students belonging to poor and weaker sections.The portal will help in strengthening a transparent mechanism for the scholarships.
