1.Ministry of Corporate Affairs has constituted a 10 Member Committee to review the Companies Act 2013.The committee headed by the Injeti Srinivas, Corporate Affairs Secretary, is also expected to take necessary steps in formulation of draft changes in the law.
2.Visiting Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the world's largest state-of-the-art visa centre in Dhaka with modern facilities.Singh inaugurated the integrated centre at Jamuna Future Park (JFP) along with his Bangladeshi counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
3.Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Uttar Pradesh launched the much awaited Bansagar canal in Mirzapurwhich is expected to provide a big boost to irrigation.The Bansagar Canal project would help at least 1.70 lakh farmers of both Mirzapur and Allahabad with the irrigation sector receiving a huge boost. A joint venture of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, the canal is 171 km long.
4.The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, laid the Foundation Stone of the Poorvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a large public gathering, he described the occasion as the start of a new chapter in the development journey of the State.
5.India will head the Asia Pacific Region of World Customs Organisation (WCO) for two years as its Vice Chair. According to a Finance Ministry release, the position will enable India to take on leadership role of Asia Pacific Region of the organisation.
6.South Africa celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela this week. His birthday on July 18 is marked annually around the world, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation called this year for people to take action and inspire change in Mandela’s name.
7.According to Economic Affairs Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg, India’s digital economy is expected to touch a $1 trillion mark by 2022.
8.Two women, Jayshree Ullal and Neerja Sethi, who belong to an Indian background, have secured a place on Forbes list of Americas 60 richest self- made women, ranking on the 18th and 21st spot, respectively.Ullal, the CEO of Arista Network was ranked on the 18th position and Sethi, the Vice President of a tech company called Syntel, secured 21st position on the 60 richest self- made women list.
9.The torch relay for the much awaited Asian Games 2018 began from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The multi sport-event will begin on August 18 in Indonesia’s Jakarta city.
10.France defeated first-time finalists Croatia 4-2 in 2018 FIFA World Cup final to win the quadrennial tournament for the first time since 1998. France became the first team since Brazil in 1970 to score four goals in a World Cup final.
