ONE LINER OF THE DAY 12th FEB 2018.


1.The United Kingdom’s Department for International Trade (DIT) will hold the India-UK Createch Summit in Mumbai .This first-of-its-kind conference will celebrate and explore the convergence of creativity and technology – Createch – and the innovations produced by its application across a range of sectors.

2.India’s financial capital Mumbai, with a total wealth of $950 billion, has been named among the top 15 wealthiest cities globally, while New York topped the list, says a report.According to a report by New World Wealth, the economic hub of India is the 12th wealthiest city, followed by Toronto with a total wealth of $944 billion, Frankfurt (14th, $912 billion) and Paris (15th, $860 billion).

3.Gangrel Dam, also known as the R.S. Sagar Dam, is located in ChhattisgarhIndia. It is built across the Mahanadi River. It is located in Dhamtari district, about 15 km from dhamtari and about 90 km from Raipur. It is the longest dam in Chhattisgarh.

4.We're celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science today! In order to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.


5.Safer Internet Day (SID) 2018 was celebrated on Tuesday, 6 February 2018 with a theme of "Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you". The day was a call to action for every stakeholder to play their part in creating a better internet for everyone, in particular the youngest users out there. More than that, it was an invitation for everyone to join in and engage with others in a respectful way in order to ensure a better digital experience.

6.China has confirmed "resumption" of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nathu La route, minister of state for external affairs VK Singh has said.
He also noted that the Kailash Mansarovar yatra via Nathu La was not undertaken last year after the Chinese government cited "unfavourable conditions" to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the yatra on this route.

7.National Productivity Council is observing National Productivity Day on 12th Feb, and National Productivity Week till 18th February.It is the 60th Anniversary of the National Productivity Council and is being celebrated as Diamond Jubilee Year. The theme for the National Productivity Week is – Industry 4.0 Leapfrog Opportunity for India.

8.Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched the Centre for learning the Sanskrit language in Gujarat University, Ahmedabad.  The center will offer a six-month course for people on how to speak the language. The coordinator of the course, Atul Ungar stated it was possibly the first such course launched in India.

9.Sharmila Nicollet become the first Indian golfer to qualify for the China Ladies PGA Tour. The 26-year-old Bengaluru golfer fought her way back into the tournament in the last two rounds to earn a card for the Tour. 

10.Pune-based swimmer, Rohan More became the first Asian as well as the first Indian to swim across the Ocean Seven. He is the youngest to complete it. He swam across the Cook Strait between North and South Islands of New Zealand in 8 hours and 37 minutes. With this, More becomes only the ninth person in the world to complete it. He has received the Tenzing Norgay Award from the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The award, also known as the National Adventure Award, was presented by President Ram Nath Kovind.
