ONE LINER OF THE DAY 10th JAN 2018


1.Legion of Honour” Award : Soumitra Chatterjee. It is the highest order of merit in France, the French government will confer the award to the legendary actor at the 42nd Kolkata Book Fair on January 30.

2.Haryana becomes the first state in the country to launch High-Risk Pregnancy (HRP) Portal. This portal not only helps in early identification of high-risk pregnant cases up to the grass-roots level but also ensures their timely referral to the civil hospitals for further management and delivery by specialists.

3.World Leprosy Day is observed internationally on January 30 or its nearest Sunday to increase the public awareness of the Leprosy.This day was chosen in commemoration of the death of Gandhi, the leader of India who understood the importance of leprosy. Leprosy is one of the oldest recorded diseases in the world.

4.Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched a common card for rides on public buses and the metro. Delhi is the first city in the country to have a common mobility card.The card, which will function like a debit card, will be operational in all DTC and cluster buses from April 2018.

5.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary Conference in the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi. As many as 124 Members of Parliament and 17 mayors from 23 countries will participate in this conference.

6. Union Minister of Earth Sciences Dr. Harsh Vardhan dedicated India’s fastest and first multi-petaflops supercomputer named ‘Pratyush’ to the nation in Pune. It is established at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune. It will be a national facility for improving weather and climate forecasts and services under the umbrella of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

7.International Customs Day is used to celebrate on the 26th January every year by the Custom Organizations.World Custom Organizations was created in the 1952 year to get the effectiveness and efficiency to the Customs administration which is situated all over the world.

8.World Bank projected India’s growth rate at 7.3 percent in 2018 and 7.5 for the next two years. According to the 2018 Global Economics Prospect release, despite initial setbacks from demonetization and Goods and Services Tax (GST), India’s economy is estimated to have grown at 6.7 percent in 2017.  India’s growth potential will be around 7 percent for the next 10 years.

9.Lala Lajpat Rai  (28 January 1865 – 17 November 1928) was an Indian freedom fighter. He played a pivotal role in the Indian Independence movement. He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari. 

10.The Chief of the Army Staff is the commander and usually the highest-ranking officer of the Indian Army. The position is abbreviated as COAS in Indian Army, and usually held by a four-star officer in the rank of General.The current COAS is General Bipin Rawat, who took office on 31 December 2016
