1.Indian economy is estimated to grow at 5% in 2019-20 as against 6.8% in the previous fiscal, according to the 1st advanced estimates of the national income released by NSO. The decline has been on account of deceleration in manufacturing sector growth.NSO-National Statistical Office.

5.India plans to put up a new satellite series called the Indian Data Relay Satellite System. The IDRSS is planned to track and be constantly in touch with Indian satellites, in particular those in low-earth orbits which have limited coverage of earth.First beneficiary would be crew of the Gaganyaan mission-2022.
6.Two Oman ships- RNOV Al Rasikh and RNOV Khassab -arrived in Goa to participate in the 12th edition of the ‘Naseem-Al-Bahr’, the Indo-Oman bilateral naval exercise. Indian Navy ships Beas and Subhadra are participating in it, with harbour phase in Goa.Naseem-Al-Bahr is being conducted since 1993.
7.Uber Technologies Inc & South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor have teamed up to develop electric air taxis, joining the global race to make small self-flying cars to ease urban congestion. They expect commercialisation of urban air mobility service in 2028.Hyundai is the first carmaker to join Uber's air taxi project.
8.Jammu and Kashmir has registered the highest Inpatient Department, IPD care in the country. As per the report, the 96% IPD care in rural areas of J&K is provided by Public Health Facilities which is highest against the country’s average of 85 percent.Overall all women in J&K are availing Antenatal Care services.
9.Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has announced the setting up of the Vikram Sarabhai Children Innovation Center during the Children’s Innovation Festival (CIF) to identify, nurture & promote children’s innovation in the state. CIF is in partnership with UNICEF.CIF was exclusively for the children’s up to 18 years old.
10.Eminent marine scientists, fisheries researchers and marine biotechnologists from across the globe are expected to participate in the third international symposium on marine ecosystems - challenges and opportunities (MECOS-3) in Kochi from January 7 to 10.MECOS-3 is conducted by Marine Biological Association.
11.India's P Magesh Chandran lifted the title in the 95th edition of the prestigious Hastings International Chess Congress held at Hastings in England. He remained unbeaten in all the nine rounds. He beat fellow Indian GM Deep Sengupta in the eighth round.Magesh defeated G.A Stany in the finals.
12.In Leh-Ladakh, the home teams won the fifth Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) National Ice Hockey Championship -2020 in both Boys and Girls categories. Ladakh Scouts Regiment Centre (LSRC) won the bronze medal, in Under-20 Boys category.Maharashtra girls stood 3rd in the championship.
