1.FM Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled ₹102 lakh crore worth infrastructure projects that will be implemented in the next five years. Those projects will help make India a $5 trillion economy by 2025.The plan calls for a ₹13.6 lakh crore investment in 2019-20.Nearly ₹25 lakh crore energy projects have been lined up.
2.Axis Bank elevated Amit Talgeri to the post of chief risk officer for a period of three years, replacing Cyril Anand who will retire.Bank has also roped in Naveen Tahilyani from AIA as group executive – head of banking operations and transformation.Amitabh Chaudhry, managing director (MD) & CEO Axis Bank.
3.Govt has launched a web portal, ‘Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR)’, to facilitate blocking and tracing of stolen/lost mobile phones in Delhi.The CEIR has been undertaken by DoT for addressing security, theft & reprogramming of mobile handsets.Ravi Shankar Prasad - Minister for Communications.
4.General Manoj Mukund Naravane took charge as the 28th Chief of Army Staff succeeding General Bipin Rawat. He served as Vice Chief of the Army before taking charge. He was also part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka.Bipin Rawat is the first Chief of Defence Staff.
5.The Railways has renamed its security force RPF (Railway Protection Force) as Indian Railway Protection Force Service. The ministry of railways has accorded organised Group A status to RPF and renamed it.Chairman Railway Board - V. K. Yadav.
6.A 7-member group of ministers (GoM) has been constituted to oversee the implementation of the Rs 69,000-crore revival plan for state-owned BSNL and MTNL. The group will expedite smooth implementation of recent decisions taken on revival of BSNL & MTNL.MTNL has reported losses in nine of the past 10 years.
7.EESL has signed MOU with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation for setting up charging infrastructure to boost electric mobility. It covers collaboration for planning, development & installation of charging facilities for 2,3, & 4-wheeler vehicles.EESL is a joint venture of 4 PSEs under the Ministry of Power.
8.IRDAI has imposed a penalty of Rs 3 crore on Maruti Insurance Brokers Pvt Limited for violation of various regulatory norms. IRDAI has found the MIBL in violation of the Motor Insurance Service Provider guidelines on various counts.Maruti Insurance Brokers Ltd is incorporated in 2010.
9.Airports Authority of India is in the process of seeking environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for three water aerodromes in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Total Investment Cost is ₹ 50 Crore.Water aerodromes will be set up in Long, Swaraj & Shaheed Island
10.IIT Guwahati Researchers have developed materials that can produce energy from water, on a small scale. The new ways of producing energy can be employed in household environments to support the concept of decentralisation of energy sources.Excess energy produced in households can be transported.
11.The Uttar Pradesh SRTC has launched a dedicated women helpline,"Damini";, which is a calling and a WhatsApp service for the safety of women.Number "81142-77777" has been subscribed for the helpline, which is an extension of the Nirbhaya Yojana.UPSRTC managing director - Raj Shekhar.
