1.Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan assumed the charge of Eastern Command with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Eastern Command War Memorial.

2.Actress Valerie Harper, the star of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and spin-off series "Rhoda" passed away. She was 80. She began her career as a dancer on Broadway, making her debut in the musical "Take Me Along" in 1959.

3.Hindustan Zinc received its first European patent. The patent was developed by ZnTech + , formerly Central Research and Development Laboratory(CRDL), Hindustan Zinc. Hindustan Zinc has filed 4 national and 2 international patents.

4.LIC said its assets have grown to over ₹31.11 lakh crore. With the increased business, the market share of the insurer rose to 73.1% at the end of July 2019. Itstarted with an initial capital of ₹5 crore in 1956.

5.ECL Finance Ltd, a subsidiary of Edelweiss Financial Services, and Central Bank of India have signed an agreement for priority sector lending to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) customers.

6.Microsoft partnered with IIT Roorkee to conduct lectures on quantum computing for a full semester. IITs, BTech and MTech students can now choose the course as a pool elective.It will provide the students,access to "Q# Programming Language"

7.NTPC Ltd. has announced the commissioning of its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station along with the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). The charging station has been installed at an IOCL petrol pump in Greater Noida.Gurdeep Singh is the Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC Ltd.

8.Charles Leclerc just held off Lewis Hamilton to win the Belgian Grand Prix from pole position ,securing the 1st victory of his Formula One career. Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas was third, finishing ahead of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.Brussels is capital city of Belgium.

9.DBS has revised India's real GDP growth forecast downwards for FY 2019-20 to 6.2% from 6.8% projected earlier. Real GDP slowed to 5% year-on-year in first quarter of FY20 from the first quarter's 5.8% prediction earlier.DBS Slogan: Live More, Bank Less; HQ: Singapore.

10.Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the country’s longest electrified rail tunnel between Cherlopalli & Rapuru at 6.7 kms. Tunnel is built at a cost of ₹437 crore, has 44 trolley refuges and 14 cross-passages in a horseshoe design.
