1.Maharashtra became the 1st state to adopt a digital fingerprint & iris scanning system to aid police investigations. The Automated Multi-modal Biometric Identification System (AMBIS) adopted by the state Police will soon be replicated across the country.AMBIS replaces Automated Fingerprint Identification System/AFIS.

2.Bureau of Indian Standards would set up a Pashmina testing centre in Leh, in partnership with the lab of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council. 'Drive for Pashmina', a Motor bike expedition to create awareness & promote Pashmina was flagged off.BIS Standards of Pashmina was released

3.Army plans to operate the first batch of 10 e-Cars as a pilot project & develop further on this initiative increasing the number of e-Cars in Delhi to ensure economy, efficiency with minimal emissions. E-Cars for Army was flagged off by QMG, Lt Gen Gopal R.The idea was visualised on the World Environment Day.

4.Maharashtra has granted infrastructure project status for a $10-billion plan to build the world’s first ultra-fast hyperloop project, aiming to link the financial hub of Mumbai with the neighbouring city of Pune. Pods can reach a speed of 750 miles/hr.Hyperloops use magnets to levitate pods inside an airless tube.

5.Reserve Bank has slapped penalties on nine commercial banks, including SBI, Punjab National Bank & Bank of Baroda, for a host of violations, including delay on the reporting of fraud in the account of Kingfisher Airlines in case of two lendersRBI imposed penalty of Rs 50 lakh on PNB.

6.Commerce Secretary Dr. Anup Wadhawan led a delegation to the 8th RCEP Inter-sessional Ministerial meeting held in Beijing on 2-3 August 2019. During the meeting he highlighted India’s contribution in shaping the RCEP negotiations till date.Comm. Sec. held bilateral meetings with ASEAN Economic Ministers.

7.Rajya Sabha passed The Code on Wages Bill, 2019 after due consideration & discussion. Lok Sabha has already passed the bill on July 30. It will be the first Code to become an Act out of the 4 Codes formulated by Ministry of Labour and Employment.The Bill will become an Act after Presidential assent.

8.National Film Development Corporation Limited - NFDC has announced that it will start accepting applications for funding of feature films under the Central Government scheme, ‘Production of films in various Indian languages’NFDC HQ: Mumbai; Founded: 1975.

9.India test-fired a sophisticated all-weather & all-terrain Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) from a test range in Odisha. The state-of-the-art missile has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the Army.QRSAM uses solid-fuel propellant.

10.DA Pennebaker, the Oscar-winning documentary maker whose historic contributions included immortalising a young Bob Dylan in Don’t Look Back & capturing the spin behind Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign in The War Room, has died. He was 94.He received an honorary Academy Award in 2013
