1.India announced an ambitious aim to set up 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The plans were revealed by Renewable Energy ministry at the 17th meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency council in Abu Dhabi.India plans for 175GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022.

2.22-year-old Girish Koushik from Mysuru became India’s 63rd Grandmaster at the 37th Balaton International Chess Festival in Hungary. He duly crossed the 2500 Elo rating after the win.World Chess Federation HQ: Athens, Greece.

3.India’s candidature for a non-permanent seat at the powerful UN Security Council for a 2-year term has been unanimously endorsed by the Asia-Pacific group at the world body. Elections for 15-nation Council for the 2021-22 term will be held next yr.10 non-permanent seats are distributed on a regional basis.

4.Almost 1 in 3 Indian children under 5 yrs will still be stunted by 2022 going by current trends & 31.4% of children will still be stunted by the 2022 deadline as per a report by UN World Food Programme in collaboration with MOSPI.Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation: DVS Gowda.

5.3 best police stations in the country are in Rajasthan, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & West Bengal, as per Home Ministry. Kalu police station in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district ranked 1 as it had all facilities including women’s help desk & WiFi.Annual survey is being conducted since 2016.

7.RBI expert committee recommended a government-sponsored Fund of Funds (FoF) of Rs 10,000 crore to support VC or PE firms investing in the MSME sector. It also recommended setting up a distressed asset fund of Rs 5,000 crore to assist units in clusters.RBI had formed Nilekani committee on Digital Payments in Jan’19

8.India & World Bank signed a Loan Agreement of $31.58 million for the Uttarakhand Public Financial Management Strengthening Project that will help improve State’s ability to manage its Financial Systems & lead to Better Utilization of Development Resources.The loan has a 5 yr grace period & final maturity of 11 years.

9.BNP Paribas Cardif has planned to sell 2.5 crore shares of SBI Life Insurance through the offer for sale (OFS) route to raise about Rs 1,775 crore. In March, it had also sold 5 crore shares of SBI Life Insurance through a block deal for Rs 2,889 crore.SBI Life is a JV b/n SBI & French bank BNP Paribas Cardif.

10.Amazon India head Amit Agarwal has been named as the new chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). According to recently launched Mary Meeker report, India accounts for 12% of the world's internet users, behind only to China (21%).Dhruv Shringi of Yatra is the vice chairman of IAMAI
