ONE LINER OF THE DAY 1st June 2019


1.Nirmala Sitharaman appointed Union Finance Minister. Amit Shah-Home Minister, Rajnath Singh- Defence Minister, S. Jaishankar- External Affairs Minister, Arjun Munda-Tribal Affairs Minister, Thaawar Chand Gehlot-Social Justice & Empowerment Minister.Indira Gandhi ( FM ) held the portfolio as an additional charge.

2.Nitin Jairam Gadkari-Road Transport and Highways & MSME Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar- Agriculture Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’-HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar-Environment Minister, Piyush Goyal-Railway Minister, Kiren Rijiju- Sports Minister. New Ministry-“Jal Shakti” has been created.

3.Admiral Karambir Singh took charge as the 24th Chief of the Naval Staff. He is the 1st helicopter pilot from the Indian Navy to lead the naval armed forces. He has commanded missile corvette INS Vijaydurg, guided-missile destroyers INS Rana & INS Delhi.He will be Navy chief till November 2021.

4.Indore’s Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar airport declared as an international airport, considered as the busiest airport in Central India. It has been bestowed Worlds Standardization Certification by the United Kingdom.Veer Savarkar International Airport – Port Blair.

5.Arun Kumar, a member of the prestigious IAS cadre, has been given the additional charge of DGCA.Kumar, who currently holds the position of an additional secretary at the aviation ministry. He will succeed B S Bhullar.DGCA-Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

6.RBI announced calendar for issuance of Sovereign Gold Bonds for the first half of the current fiscal. The Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) will be issued every month from June 2019 to September 2019.The maximum limit of subscription is 4 kg for individual.

7.International rating agency Fitch Ratings affirmed long-term issuer default ratings (IDRs) of six banks including State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Bank at 'BBB-', with a stable outlook.Rating of IDBI Bank's long-term IDR was affirmed at 'BB+'

8.Asian Development Bank & the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), agreed to cooperate more closely to increase the flow of private sector investment into emerging economies in Asia & the Pacific, in line with the 2030 development goal.MIGA was created in 1988 as a member of the World Bank Group.

9.Sachin Bansal, Flipkart ex-CEO and BAC Acquisitions co-founder, has joined Ujjivan Small Finance Bank’s board as an independent director. He will join the bank board on June 1.Ujjivan Small Finance Bank Limited- ‎Bangalore, Karnataka.

10.For the first time since the 1970s, NASA is planning to to send equipment to the surface of the Moon in 2020 and 2021, in anticipation of a crewed lunar mission in 2024. The landers will deliver up to 23 small payloads of equipment provided by NASA.NASA administrator- Jim Bridenstine
