1.The World Bank and the GoI signed a $250 Million Agreement for the National Rural Economic Transformation Project (NRETP) which will help women of 13 states living in rural households shift to a new generation of economic initiatives.Kristalina Georgieva is Interim World Bank Group President & CEO.
2.Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Scheme in Ahmedabad. It is a scheme open to unorganised workers, whose monthly income is Rs 15000 or below & who have an Aadhar number as well as bank account. The minimum is 18 & the maximum is 40.It assured minimum monthly pension of Rs 3000 from 60 years.
3.RBI imposed a Rs 4 cr penalty on Karnataka Bank, it slapped a fine of Rs 3 cr each on United Bank and Indian Overseas Bank. 4.Public sector Indian Bank has bagged the Best Bank Award from Tamil Nadu government for meeting the needs of women's self-help groups (SHGs). 5.India topped the Conference Board Global Consumer Condifence Survey, which is conducted in collaboration with Nielsen. The survey which was conducted over the internet polls more than 32,000 consumers in 64 countries. South Korea stood at the bottom.Every Year 24th December is observed as National Consumer Day.
6.Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj, UP visited by an estimated 130- 140 mil people, set up records for largest crowd management, largest sanitation drive & largest painting exercise of public sites. The exercises were performed from February 28 to March 3.Kumbh is held at 3-river confluence Ganga, Yamuna & Sarasvati.
7.Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be the 1st recipient of the Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar instituted by the Akhil Bharatiya Digambar Jain Mahasamiti. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2.51akhs l, a memento & a citation.The award will be presented on 17 April (Mahavir Jayanti).
8.Former Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Ajit Singh is appointed as the 1st Lokayukta of Odisha. Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal has approved his name following the recommendation of selection committee headed by CM Naveen Patnaik.Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO world heritage site in Odisha.
9.The World Bank, GoI & Government of Uttarakhand (GoUK) signed a $96 Million Loan Agreement to provide additional funds to the State of Uttarakhand in its recovery plans, ongoing since floods of 2013 & strengthen its capacity for Disaster Risk Management.Nanda Devi, UK is the highest mountain peak wholly in India.
10.Indore has been awarded the cleanest city in the country in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 awards while Bhopal has been declared as the cleanest capital. Ujjain has bagged the award for being the cleanest city in the population category of 3 to 10 lakhs.Ahmedabad declared the cleanest city in the 10l+ population category
