1.Indian Air Force (IAF) and Japanese Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) began their air exercise ‘SHINYUU Maitri-18’ at Air Force Station Agra on 3 December 2018.The theme of the exercise is joint Mobility/Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) on Transport aircraft.IAF participated in the exercise with ‘An-32’ and ‘C-17’ aircraft with aircrew & observers.
2.The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed an $85 million loan agreement on 3 December 2018.The loan agreement has been signed to improve the skill development eco-system in Odisha and establish an advanced skill training centre, the World Skill Center (WSC), in Bhubaneswar.
3.Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4 December.The day is celebrated in honour of the Indian Navy’s role during the war with Pakistan in 1971 when Indian warships attacked Karachi port.
4.International conference on bears is being organised in Agra from 3 December 2018 to 6 December 2018.The conference is hosted by Wildlife SOS, a conservation non-profit.The conference aims to share knowledge on principles of welfare of bears and other wild animals in zoos, sanctuaries and rescue centres.
5.ICICI Securities and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has launched ‘eATM’ facility on 3 December 2018.Through ‘eATM’ facility, clients of the domestic brokerage entity will be able to receive the pay-out within 30 minutes of selling the shares.The new service would have a cap of ₹50,000 per client a day and would be applicable on about 600 stocks listed on the BSE.
6.Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric won ‘Ballon d’Or 2018’ in Paris on 3 December 2018.He was awarded the FIFA’s World Cup 2018 Most Valuable Player Award, UEFA’s Player of the Year 2018, and Best FIFA Footballer of the 2018.Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg won the ‘Ballon d’Or 2018’ for women’s players.
7.Moody’s Investors Service’s annual ‘Banking System Outlook on India’ estimated the country’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to grow at 7.2% in the financial year 2018-19 and 7.4% in the financial year 2019-20.It stated that the growth will be driven by investment growth and strong consumption.It also stated that the operating environment will be stable, supported by economic growth.
8.Government of India appointed Ajay Narayan Jha as new Finance Secretary on 3 December 2018.He replaced Hasmukh Adhia, who retired on 30 November 2018.He was the former secretary of Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
9.Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the ‘Peoples Empowerment Enabling Transparency and Accountability’ (PEETHA) programme on 3 December 2018.The aim of the programme is to create transparency and awareness of various government schemes.‘PEETHA’ is a sub-scheme of the Odisha government’s flagship ‘Ama Gaon Ama Bikas Yojana’.
10.Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik launched the ‘Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ (AB-PMJAY) scheme on 1 December 2018.The scheme will benefit over 31 lakh residents in the state.The AB-PMJAY is the world’s largest healthcare scheme which aims at providing coverage of Rs 5 lakh per entitled family annually.
