1Bangladesh Naval Ship Somudra Joy arrived on a four day visit to the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam.Commissioned on December 23 2013, BNS Somudra Joy, a Hamilton Class frigate, is one of the largest ships of the Bangladesh Navy.

2.Rajasthan government will soon distribute mobile phones to women, who fall under the Below Poverty Line (BPL), under the Bhamashah Yojana.The scheme aims to transfer financial and non-financial benefits of governmental schemes in a transparent manner.The state government will also provide free Wifi facilities to as many as 5,000 gram panchayats.

3.Joint Army Exercise ‘KAZIND‘ will be conducted between the Indian and Kazakhstan Army from 10 to 23 Sep 2018 in Otar region, Kazakhstan.The aim of the exercise is to build and promote bilateral Army to Army relations and exchange skills and experiences between Kazakhstan Army and the Indian Army.

4.Teachers’ Day is celebrated throughout India on 5th September.The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of educationist and former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

5.The International Women Entrepreneurs Summit 2018 is being held in Kathmandu, Nepal.The theme of the 3-day event is “Equality begins with Economic Empowerment”.The main objective of the summit is to bring together achievers, women business leaders, professionals, international service providers, resource organizations, experts with a focus on innovative economic transformation.

6.Karur Vysya Bank Ltd (KVB) has rolled out KVB Next, a tab-based digital initiative.This will help the retail and business customers get in-principle sanctions for loans within 15 minutes.Under the initiative, KVB will offer retail loans for up to Rs. 2 crore, loan against property for up to Rs. 3 crore and home loans for up to Rs. 1 crore.

7.Arif Alvi, one of the founding members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was elected as President of Pakistan on 4th September, 2018.The new President will take the oath of the office on September 9, 2018.The outgoing President Mamnoon Hussain’s five-year tenure ends on September 8, 2018.

8.Google will soon be helping the Election Commission (EC) keep tabs on online political advertising.The tech giant will develop a mechanism that will ensure the pre-certification of political advertisements.It will also enable it to share with the authority, details about the expenditure incurred on its platforms.

9.The International Day of Charity is observed annually on 5 September.It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012.

10.Asia Index Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between S&P Dow Jones Indices and BSE Ltd, announced the launch of an index designed to measure the performance of private banks.The S&P BSE Private Banks Index is drawn from the constituents of the S&P BSE Finance Index.The index is calculated in Indian Rupees and US Dollar and is calculated real-time by BSE.
