1.Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra inaugurated three apps along with Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Justices Madan B. Lokur and A.M. Khanwilkar.Chief Justice Misra said the services provided by the apps include e-filing along with user manual, e-payment options, National Service and Tracking of Electronic Processes (NTSEP).
2.State run Rural Electrification Corporation said it has inked a loan agreement with German bank KfW for EUR 200 million facility that would be used to finance clean energy projects in India.This is REC's fourth line of credit under Indo-German development cooperation which REC will utilise to finance renewable energy projects in India.
3.Senior diplomat D Bala Venkatesh Varma was appointed as India's next ambassador to Russia.Varma, a 1988 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently serving as Indian envoy in Spain.He will succeed Pankaj Saran who has been appointed deputy National Security Advisor.
4.Former India Test captain Ajit Wadekar, who led the country to its first win in England in 1971, passed away at 77 after a prolonged illness.Wadekar made his debut in 1966 against the West Indies and went on to represent India in 37 Tests and two one-day internationals.
5.Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has passed away aged 93 in Delhi. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was three times Prime Minister of India. First Term: May 1996, Second Term: 1998-1999 and Third Term: 1999-2004.
6. International Master Nihal Sarin became the 53rd Grandmaster of India despite losing his final round game to Richard Rapport of Hungary in the ninth and final round of Abu Dhabi Masters.
7.Bharti Axa Life Insurance and Airtel Payments Bank entered into an alliance to offer the ‘Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana’ (PMJJBY), a government-backed life insurance scheme. The alliance will leverage Airtel Payments Bank’s vast network to reach deep rural pockets and serve the under-insured. With this, Airtel Payments Bank also becomes the first payments bank in India to offer the Government of India-backed life insurance scheme.
The product (PMJJBY) provided by Bharti Axa Life Insurance offers Rs 2 lakh life insurance cover for a nominal premium of Rs 330 per annum and can be purchased by all existing or new Airtel Payments Bank savings bank account holders between the ages of 18-50.
8.Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched BSNL WINGS a VOIP based service. In WINGS, there is no SIM or cable wiring as is a VOIP service through an app. The WINGS service offers unlimited free audio/video calling for one year. The service can be activ BSNL WINGS a VOIP ated with a one-time fee of Rs. 1,099 (Rs 1,297 with GST).
9.BSNL was incorporated on 15th September 2000.Headquarters of BSNL is in New Delhi.Anupam Shrivastava is the Chairman & Managing Director and Director of BSNL.
10.The high-level committee on restructuring stressed assets and creating more value for public sector banks (PSBs) led by- Sunil Mehta.
