1.The Union Cabinet approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Jordan on cooperation in the field of Health & Medical Science. Working Group will be set up to oversee the implementation of this MoU and further elaborate the details of cooperation. MoU covers the following areas of cooperation Health Research. Tobacco Control. Chronic Disease Control. National Health Statistics. Health System Government.
2.Russia, India and Bangladesh signed a trilateral agreement to cooperate in the construction of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh, work on which started late last year.Indian companies can be involved in construction and installation works, the supply of materials and equipment of a non-critical category for the project.
3.The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a proposal to double guarantee to Rs. 19,000 crore from earlier Rs 9,500 crore to National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) for obtaining credit from banks for procurement of pulses and oilseeds. The regularization and extension are for undertaking procurement operation of pulses and oilseeds under Price Support Scheme (PSS). The CCEA also approved Government Guarantee up to Rs. 45 crore to the Small Farmers Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC) for meeting its existing liability. The guarantee will be provided for a period of 5 years, till 2021-22 and with a waiver of 1% of government guarantee fee.
4.The first Mega Food Park in the state of Maharashtra, Satara Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd. at Village Degaon, District Satara was inaugurated by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries.This is the 10th Mega Food Park being operationalized in the country.Satara Mega Food Park has been set up in 64 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 139.30 crore.
5.The union government asked Public Sector Banks (PSBs) to consolidate 35 overseas operations. Financial Services Secretary Rajiv Kumar said in a tweet that 69 overseas operations have also been identified for further examination. The Expressing government's commitment to clean and responsible banking, Mr Kumar said, the overseas operations of the state-owned banks will be rationalized. The move comes in the wake of the recent Punjab National Bank scam in which Nirav Modi allegedly cheated the bank in connivance with PNB staff and officials of overseas branches of other state-owned banks.
6.The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the PM Narendra Modi approved the continuation of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) beyond 12th Plan for three years from 2017-18 to 2019-20.The program outlay is proposed at Rs.5,500 crore.Scheme will create sustainable estimated employment opportunities for 15 lakh persons in three financial years.The Scheme is aimed at generating self-employment opportunities through establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector by helping traditional artisans and unemployed youth in rural as well as urban areas.
7.Women and Child Development Ministry has approved projects worth over Rs 2,900 crore under the Nirbhaya fund for eight major cities to make them safer for women.These cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.The decision was taken after a meeting of Empowered Committee, which is headed by Women and Child Development Secretary.
8.President of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang is arriving in India this afternoon on a three-day visit. He will be accompanied by his wife Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hien and an official delegation. Mr. Quang will first visit Bodh Gaya before coming to New Delhi. He will meet President Ram Nath Kovind tomorrow and also hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will also call on the visiting dignitary. The Vietnamese President will also have an interaction with prominent Indian businessmen. The visit aims to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
9.The Telangana government launched an m-Governance mobile application called ‘T App Folio’ to help citizens with one point access to government services like MeeSeva services, RTA services, fee payments and bill payment services etc.All public services in Telangana will now be delivered over mobile phone with the launch of this official digital application of the state.Telangana has become the second state in India after Karnataka to launch anywhere, anytime, mobile service delivery gateway for all the departments.
10.Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu arrived at Parmath Niketan in Rishikesh to attend the International Yoga Festival. The festival is being attended by the National and International participants. Speaking on the occasion Vice President India has become the Spiritual leader in the world. He stated that the body and mind of individual remain fit through regular practice of Yoga. Earlier, Governor K.K. Paul, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, and other officials welcomed Vice President at Jolly Grant Airport.
