1.Repo rate reduced by 25 bps to 5.75% for third time in a row. Reverse repo rate now stands at 5.50%, marginal standing facility (MSF) rate 6%. RBI cuts GDP growth forecast to 7 % from 7.2 % for FY20.GDP:Gross Domestic Product.FY20:Fiscal Year 2020.

2.World Food Safety Day is celebrated on 7 June to draw global attention to the consequences of contaminated food and water to the health. It focuses on the way to reduce the risk of food poisoning.Theme for 2019:"Food Safety, everyone's business”.

3.India ranked 95th out of 129 countries in global gender equality index, looking at aspects such as poverty, health, education, literacy, political representation & equality at workplace. The SDGG Index has been developed by UK-based Equal Measures 2030.SDGG Index- Sustainable Development Goals Gender Index

4.The Delhi Metro has become the first ever project in the country to receive power generated from a waste-to-energy plant.The DMRC has started receiving 2 MW power from a 12 MW capacity waste-to-energy plant set up in Ghazipur.DMRC:Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

5.Nigeria’s Ambassador to the UN, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, has been elected as the next President of the General Assembly.He will succeed incumbent Maria Fernanda Espinosa & was elected by acclamation as President of the 74th session of the General Assembly.UNGA headquarters:New York, United States.

6.Gianni Infantino was re - elected for a second term as president of football's international governing body FIFA. Infantino has been responsible for expanding the 2026 World Cup from 32 to 48 teams.FIFA: Federation Internationale de Football Association.

7.PM Narendra Modi reconstituted NITI Aayog, renaming Rajiv Kumar as its VC and appointing home minister Amit Shah,Defence minister Rajnath Singh, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman & agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar as its ex-officio members.NITI : National Institution for Transforming India.

8.In Russia, the first tourist train traveling through Russia's Arctic region and on to Norway, set off from St. Petersburg.The tourists came from 7 countries including the US, Germany, Norway and Russia.The train is named, Zarengold.Capital of Russia:Moscow.

9.Hardeep Singh Puri launched Swachh Survekshan 2020 League in New Delhi.The league will be a quarterly cleanliness assessment of cities and towns in India.The objective of the Swachh Survekshan survey is to encourage large scale citizen participation.Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister: Hardeep Singh Puri

10.Celebrated chef and culinary revivalist Jaspal Inder Singh Kalra passed away , aged 71. Mr. Kalra held titles like the “Czar of Indian Cuisine” and “Taste maker to the Nation”, conferred upon him by eminent writer Khushwant Singh.He was popularly called Jiggs Kalra.
