ONE LINER OF THE DAY 4th JAN 2018.


1.The NABARD has sanctioned Rs 372.51 crore loan assistance under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) to Odisha towards irrigation and rural bridge projects for the last quarter of this fiscal.

2. The Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) has operationalised it’s first desktop ATM at Kasibugga in Mandi Bazar of Warangal in Telangana on Tuesday The mini-ATM within the branch premises will facilitate customers to withdraw small amounts. At the same time regular bank account holders can withdraw money and do other banking activities. The model will be scaled up to 100 in the near future, said Narasi Reddy, Chairman. With these ATMs, there will be no need for separate ATM rooms, so there is no security issue.

3.Rajinder Khanna, former chief of the country's external intelligence agency RAW, was  appointed as Deputy National Security Adviser, according to an official order.

4.Ajit Kumar Doval, IPS (Retd),  (born 20 January 1945) is a former Indian intelligence and law enforcement officer, who, since 30 May 2014, is the 5th and current National Security Advisor to Prime Minister of India.


5.World Braille Day is celebrated every year on 4th January around the world to commemorate the birthday of Louis Braille. Louis Braille is credited with inventing the Braille language which helps blind people to read as well as write.

6.The Reserve Bank of India has ordered banks to recalibrate ATMs to ensure that more numbers of the Rs. 200 denomination note is dispensed to the general public as part of its efforts to step up supply of lower denomination notes. 
Two people familiar with the matter said that the banking industry is likely to spend more than Rs 110 crore in implementing the regulator's order. 

7.Carnatic vocalist Radha Vishwanathan, 83, daughter of M.S. Subbulakshmi, who accompanied the legendary musician for nearly five decades on stage, died in Bengaluru .

8.India’s central bank will soon issue a new Rs 10 note in chocolate brown colour. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has already printed 1  billion pieces of the new note,.. Further, the new note will bear the picture of Konark Sun Temple.

9.Just nine days before the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Youth Festival, the Centre has decided to move the festival venue from Jaipur to Noida. National Youth Day : 12 Jan.
