1.RBI announced plans for round-the-clock availability of the National Electronic Funds Transfer system from Dec'19.At present, NEFT is available to customers for retail payments between 8 am & 7 pm on all working days of the week, except bank holidays.RBI released Payment System Vision Document 2021.

2.On this day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi gave a clarion call to end the British rule and launched the Quit India Movement at the session of the All-India Congress Committee in Mumbai.After failure of Cripps Mission, Gandhiji gave the call to Do or Die.The event is also famously called August Kranti Din.

3.UP govt & Netherlands have extended the existing bilateral agreement of cooperation in several fields by another 5 yrs. MOU is in cooperation/exchange of the knowledge & techniques in the fields of solid waste management, spatial planning, water management.Netherlands ambassador to India: Marten van den Berg.

4.As per Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2017-18, Around 33% of the formally trained youth was unemployed in 2017-18. Nearly a 3rd of trained young men & more than a third of trained young women were unemployed.1.8% of population reported receiving formal vocational training.

6.SBI Life Insurance & Indian Bank have entered into a bancassurance pact to offer holistic financial planning solutions to the latter’s customers. The partnership will see over 2,851 branches of Indian Bank spread across the country selling SBI Life product.Indian Bank Headquarters: Chennai; Founded: 1907.

7.Annual economic flow benefits of the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) are worth a staggering ₹162.02 billion, says a report titled Economic Valuation of Tiger Reserves In India. NSTR is one of the largest tiger reserves spread over 3800 sq km.It covers Guntur, Prakasam & Kurnool districts in AP.

8.AustralianSuper, one of Australia’s largest superannuation fund & Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Canada, have each signed agreements with the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund for upto $1 bn investment each.This marks the third close of the NIIF Master Fund.

9.First African-American woman to win the Nobel Prize in literature, in 1993, Toni Morrison passed away in Bronx( US). She was 88. In 1988, she won the Pulitzer Prize and the American Book Award for Beloved(1987)She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.

10.RBI has proposed to set up a central payment fraud registry, which will monitor digital payment frauds in real-time. The move is expected to boost customer confidence in the payments systems.RBI expects to have 100% growth in IMPS & UPI over the year
