ONE LINER OF THE DAY 3rd FEBRUARY 2018


1.Reserve Bank of India has launched the ombudsman scheme for digital payments. The scheme would provide free of cost redressal mechanism to grievances raised by customers for digital transactions through non-banking channels.It will start working from 21 offices of the Banking Ombudsman.

2.FM Piyush Goyal has exhorted state-run banks to step up lending to micro, small & medium enterprises, agriculture and housing sectors. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code has helped the PSBs recover over ₹ 1 Lakh Cr in the 3 quarters of the current fiscal.Micro Enterprise - Investment in equipment doesn’t exceed ₹ 10 L.

4.Rishi Kumar Shukla was appointed as the new chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation. He will head the CBI for a period of two years. He is presently the chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation.HQ of Central Bureau of Investigation – New Delhi.

5.Defence Ministry has cleared a long-pending proposal of the Army to procure around 73,000 assault rifles from the US under fast track mode. The US firm will have to deliver the rifles within one year from the date of finalizing the deal.US-manufactured rifles will replace the Insas rifles.

6.Total gross GST revenue collected in the month of Jan 2019 stood at ₹ 102503 Cr. Jan 2019 collections are 14% above the Jan 2018 collections. Gross GST collections over the last 3-month period have been 14% higher than the corresponding period last year.GST was launched on July 1, 2017.

7.World Wetlands Day is celebrated annually on 2 February. This year’s Day under the theme of ‘Wetlands and Climate Change’ highlights the importance of healthy and intact wetlands to one of the most pressing challenges of our times: climate change.World Wetlands Day was first celebrated in 1997.

8.INS Dronacharya team won the Kochi Area Boat Pulling Regatta trophy 2019 of the Southern Naval Command in Ernakulam. It is one of the most prestigious and traditional naval sporting activities conducted by the Navy.Indian Navy is celebrated every year on December 4.

9.Midfielder Ki Sung-yueng announced his retirement from the South Korean national team. He had hinted at retirement after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but decided to compete in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.AFC Asian Cup 2019 was held in the United Arab Emirates.

10.The Chairman of Sundaram Brake Linings Ltd K. Mahesh died in Chennai. He was 75. In 2001, the company became the first manufacturer of friction material for brake lining and clutch facings and won the prestigious Deming award.The company is a part of the $8.5 billion TVS Group.
