1.The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has won the ‘ISSA Good Practice Award’ for Administrative Solution for Coverage Extension at the “Regional Social Security Forum for Asia and the Pacific” held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

2.The ISSA (International Social Security Association) is the principal international organization for Social Security Organizations, Govts. and Departments of Social Security.The ISSA was founded in 1927 under the auspices of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Geneva. 

3.Sport Australia Hall of Fame has announced cricketing great Richie Benaud, who died in April, 2015, will become the 40th Legend of Australian Sport.

4.The Reserve Bank of India issued guidelines for operating Electronic Trading Platforms (ETPs) to transact in eligible instruments. Trading on electronic platforms is being encouraged across the world as it enhances pricing transparency, processing efficiency and risk control.As per the norms issued by the central bank ETPs will mean any electronic system, other than a recognised stock exchange, on which transactions in eligible instruments. ETP Operator’ shall mean an entity authorised by the Reserve Bank to operate an ETP under these Directions. 

5.India’s Keerthana Pandian has won the girls’ title in the IBSF World Under-16 Snooker Championships. In the final in St Petersburg, Russia, Keerthana outclassed her Belarussian rival Albina Leschuk 3-1.

6.A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between India’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and the Russian Federation’s SIRIUS Educational Foundation.The aim is to promote innovative cooperation between students of India and Russia.AIM is an initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

8.India beat Sri Lanka by 144 runs to clinch the Under-19 Asia Cup 2018 title in Dhaka.India is the most successful team in the youth Asia Cup history winning 6 titles.Indian bowler Harsh Tyagi’s won the Man of the Match award in the final played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.

9.The Government of India has reconstituted the Supreme Court-empowered Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA).EPCA  is tasked with taking various measures to tackle air pollution in the National Capital Region.The tenure of the last EPCA expired on 3 October 2018.Bhure Lal continues to be the Chairman of EPCA.

10.Prominent Gandhian Natwar Thakkar died in a hospital in Guwahati on 7 October.He worked among the tribals of Nort eastern states and spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi.
