1.January 15 is observed every year as Army Day in India. Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief on this day in 1949. Army day is dedicated to the soldiers who fought to safeguard the country's honour.
2. Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a two-day International Workshop on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (IWDRI) in New Delhi. The workshop is organised by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in collaboration with United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). This workshop aims to take this dialogue on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and global cooperation further.
3.India contributed $50,000 to United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s Office of Envoy on Youth to help with its mission of involving young people in the world body’s goals. The contribution was handed over by Paulomi Tripathi, a First Secretary in India’s UN Mission to the Youth Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake. 4.Bollywood and TV actor Charu Rohatgi passed away Monday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra tweeted her condolence message. Charu Rohatgi played Parineeti Chopra’s mother in Ishaqzaade.
5.External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj and Bhutan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lyonpo Damcho Dorji jointly unveiled the ‘Special logo’ for the Golden Jubilee celebrations in New Delhi and Thimphu through video-conference.
