1.The 25th edition of National Children Science Congress (NCSC-2017) was recently held Gandhinagar, Gujarat.Theme : Science and Innovation for Sustainable Development’ with the special focus on persons with disabilities.

2. Telangana  will be hosting an international sweets festival next Month.The World Sweet Festival, featuring over hundreds of sweet items, will be held from January 13 to 15."The sweets festival aims at promoting mutual respect among people belonging to various states living in Hyderabad, by showcasing sweets from 25 states.

3.India's largest mobile-first financial services platform, Paytm  announced that its app has crossed the 100 million milestone on Google Play Store in the second week of December 2017.This makes Paytm the country's first payments app to cross the 100 million downloads mark.

4.President Ram Nath Kovind will launch the Andhra Pradesh Fiber grid project at the Andhra PradeshSecretariat, Amaravati.Andhra Pradesh Fiber grid is a prestigious project initiated by state Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, which aims to expand high speed internet facility in the state.The project aims to cover over 1.45 crore households, 12,198 panchayats and 60,000 schools.

5.Veteran singer K S Chitra has been selected for this year's prestigious 'Harivarasanam' award, instituted by the Kerala government. Chitra has been selected for the award in recognition of her contribution to propagate the spirit of secularism, equanimity and universal brotherhood.

6.The joint military exercise between Indian Army and Maldives National Defence Force, Exercise Ekuverin-2017, was held in December, 2017. The exercise commenced at the Maratha Centre in Belgavi, Karnataka.

7.The much-awaited India’s first pod taxi project has moved a step closer to reality after a high-level panel recommended inviting fresh bids for the same conforming to the strictest safety standards on the lines of those prescribed by an American body.The projected ₹4,000-crore pod taxi scheme — also known as Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) — is a dream project of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and the NHAI has been mandated to execute it on Delhi-Gurgaon pilot corridor (12.3 km) from Delhi-Haryana border to Rajiv Chowk in Gurgaon on a PPP (public-private partnership) basis.

8. The 105th session of Indian Science Congress will be hosted by Osmania University (HYDERABAD) here during January  2018. Theme `Science and Technology - Reaching the Unreached’.

10.The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is the regional intergovernmental organization and geopoliticalunion of nations in South Asia. Its member states include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. SAARC was founded in Dhaka on 8 December 1985. Its secretariat is based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The organization promotes development of economic and regional integration.
