1.J&K Bank chairman Parvez Ahmed  said that journalists in Jammu and Kashmir work under challenging circumstances and it is important to recognise their tireless efforts.Speaking at the launch of ‘J&K sahafat finance scheme” at the bank headquarters here, Ahmad said that the scheme is aimed to provide easy finance to mediapersons working across the state.The scheme will enable journalists to buy cameras, laptops, tablets, and books. The minimum loan amount for the purpose has been fixed at Rs 50,000 while as the maximum cap is Rs 3 lakh

2.R Hemalatha has been appointed as the new Director of the country’s premier National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad.Hemalatha is a medical graduate of Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad.

4.The Lakh Bahosi Sanctuary (LBS) is a bird sanctuary spread over two jheels near the villages of Lakh and Bahosi in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh.

5.Cabinet approved the establishment of International Training Centre for Operational Oceanography, as a Category-2 Centre of UNESCO, in Hyderabad.The purpose of this Agreement is to establish a training centre towards development of capacity for the countries on the Indian Ocean Rim.The establishment will provide an opportunity for India to emerge as a leading country in the Indian Ocean.

6.France is to ban all drilling for oil and natural gas by 2040 after its Parliament approved part of President Emmanuel Macron’s plans to cut the use of fossil fuels.

7.Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ockhi affected Lakshwadeep, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to take stock of situation, and met affected people. There he announces a relief package of Rs 325 crore for all 3 states and ex-gratia assistance of Rs. 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.

8.The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has initiated “prompt corrective action” (PCA) measures against state-run lender Bank of India in the view of its high non-performing assets (NPAs).PCA was initiated against state-run lender Corporation Bank. In the past, RBI has placed restrictions on seven banks which include Oriental Bank of Commerce, Dena Bank, Central Bank of India, IDBI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Bank of Maharashtra and UCO Bank

9.Shree Saini, a resident of Washington state, was crowned Miss India USA 2017. The 21-year-old, who is a student at the University of Washington,  she wants to lead a life dedicated to service.

10.Assam Government and the Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev-led Isha Foundation inked an MOU for rejuvenation and conservation of rivers.Assam chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Assamese civilization has been spawned by the Brahmaputra and Barak and saving these great rivers is one of the prime objectives of the state government.
